A large, muscular arm gently pushes Leo back.
"Please, refrain from pestering my partner any further." Carrick sighs.
Yukari nods.
"You too."

[USEC_OFFICER]

Maja nods back and then flies off into the sunset, never to be seen again never to be seen again. She didn't leave any contact info or asked for any. The chances of seeing her again are pretty slim, you have to admit. The city is a pretty damn big place.


Leo seems completely undisturbed by this, and continues to ramble on, "Heh heh eh. You're stronger than you look, eh? And bigger too. Well, they always say that it's your sight that is the first thing to go. Or was it memory? Of course, I don't think that such a young, strapping lass like you has to worry about that, eh? A couple pills a day and you'll be right as rain. Yesirebob."

Laxmi finally enters the scene by sliding up to Carrick. Given that she's a lamia, she is very, very good at it. She comments, "Don't worry, he isn't trying anything. He's just always like that."

Carrick stares at her and Leo.

"I don't think being dead can be cured by pills, sir."

[USEC_OFFICER]

Laxmi sighs, "Yes? What is the matter?"

Leo chuckles, "You're not using the right pills then, eh? Eh?"

[SOLDIER First]

"Recently, courtesy of the fuckin' maniac of the week. But I found a hundred bucks, so it's okay, I guess."

Laxmi sighs, "Yes? What is the matter?"

Leo chuckles, "You're not using the right pills then, eh? Eh?"

Carrick is silent.
"Please, if being dead were so easy to cure, then I wouldn't be dead."

[USEC_OFFICER]

Laxmi sighs, "So you're the big, silent type, are you? Not one to talk?"

Leo chuckles, "You'd be surprised, heh he."

"Words are hard to find when the only company one has is the dead."
"Hey! That's mean!

And pray tell, what kind of pill cures, y'know, undeath?"

[USEC_OFFICER]

Laxmi chuckles, "Ah, I see. That's quite the excuse you have there. So what exactly do you do?"

Leo just wiggles his eyebrows, and reaches into the folds of his robes. Thankfully he doesn't pull out anything disgusting, just a small bottle with several black pills in it. He grins at Elizabeth and gestures her closer.

Elizabeth recoils and hides behind Carrick.
"I comfort the dying."

[USEC_OFFICER]

"That's probably wise," Laxmi comments to Elizabeth before turning back to Carrick, "Oh, really? Is this before they leave their bodies? Or do you comfort people like your friend over there?"

Leo just continues grinning and gesturing at the spot that Elizabeth used to be.

"Before they leave. And then for a short time after. My lantern bears the souls of those who have yet to find peace- within, they may yet find peace and move on."

"Hmmm. Sounds interesting. Or rather boring, perhaps. It's not something I really care about, honestly."

"It is a job." Carrick says, rather unemotionally.

Leo is suddenly abducted by aware of a very beautiful birdwoman walking a ways down the street.
