"I got hurt by it, am I bad?"

"...no...but you not get hut bad! Only little bit."

"Why does it matter more that I got hurt than it would if a human, who thinks and feels the same as you or me, did though?"

"B-but...they hut monstuhs?"

She seemed curious herself now, as if she had never thought of it, and it was a good question.

"...Hoomans hut Momma. Hut Poppa too, but Momma said they come back when they could...they never coming back, will they?"

Tears, very small and restrained carefully, were in her eyes now. She tucked herself into a ball as she watched her lantern, burning a golden red.

Tom hugs Ton.
"I don't know. But I do know that humans can be just as good as anyone else."

Ton let herself be hugged, then nodded. She'd done her crying for them a long time ago.

"...okay."

With that, her normally mute demeanour returns. She mimes trying to hold an oversized gun, doing so rather poorly and almost falling off the bed in the process, then making a questioning noise, and holding out a thumb, moving her fist so it was either a thumbs up or a thumbs down, alternately.

Tom sighs.
"She's probably alright. And, you are aware I am actually human right? I don't want you to find it out at some less convenient point."

Ton looks very confused at this. But she nods. Species was irrelevant by that point, at least about Tom. Others, maybe not.

Tom chuckles at Ton.
"Well, let's get off that sad stuff for now, okay?"

Ton nods, still holding her lantern tightly. She makes a questioning noise, and starts to scoot off the bed.

She figured she should go apologize to the human girl. She looks up at Tom and holds out a hand.

Tom gets up and takes her hand.

Meanwhile, Yukari eventually sits down on a roof's ledge. She sighs.

That girl.....she looked young. Probably not even older than four, four and a half- and yet she tried to stab her. She'd seen young monsters do that to other people- mainly due to ingrained fear of humans. She could understand; humans had a reputation for killing monsters that wasn't completely unjustified. The best course wasn't to shoot the girl on sight- she didn't know why she did it, and that alone was enough to give her a good reason to find out and anyway, she was so young- but to talk, or at least listen, to her.

Shortly after resolving to do that, Yukari heads off to a nearby sweetshop to grab some sweets for the girl, to let her know she wasn't angry about the stabbing and she wasn't going to retaliate. After buying a bag, she heads back to the apartment cautiously, getting ready to bolt at any second should the girl be coming at her with clear intent to stab her.

Keith waves at Yukari looking her over with genuine concern.

Yukari fixes her glasses.
"I'm fine. I managed to patch myself up."

Keith nods.
"That's good."
