"The tonberry just tried to stab Yukari. Judging by the gore, she managed to nick her a little, but the girl got away. She's running across the rooftops of Madness as we speak. Wouldn't blame her."

Yukari stops, panting.
"Green lizard girl......tried to....kill me.....don't know why....."

"How deep is that cut?"

The cut is rapidly disappearing; Yukari healed it with a magical poultice.

Ton just points, almost hysterically, at basically everything; first at the open window, then at Keith, then her lantern and the floor, then her knife, then Keith again, then her arm, all the while making half-babbling, half-crying sounds that could have been words, if you were generous. After she finishes pointing, she glances at Keith in fear, runs out from Tom's grasp and grabs her knife, then runs back and cries again, trying to hide behind the human.

Which probably confused Cheru, too, by this point.

(also,her face doesn't look like a lizard, though her tail might give that idea)

Cheru is unfazed.
He points at Keith.
"He's not in any danger from humans. Nobody is in danger of humans. Especially not from the one you just tried to stab. In fact, judging by the flirting he's been doing, he was probably trying to get dinner with her before this happened.

I'm a monster. I know what I'm talking about. Human not threat here. Yes?"

Cheru doesn't sound mad. He just sounds exasperated.

Keith sighs.

Tom turns back to Ton after a good bit of time.
"What were you doing before he hurt you?"

Ton makes half-whining sounds, pointing to Keith and then her arm and pouting, then pointing out the window and making stabbing motions(she was remarkably good at miming the motion, even without a knife), nodding quickly. She looks up at Tom with big eyes, looking very scared and confused, asking wordlessly for explanation and guidance. He was the only one she trusted, for the moment. He hadn't been hurt when she doinked him, not really, so he must be a good person.

She didn't know what she'd done wrong. Tonberries were supposed to doink humans! Why had the meany succubus hurt her? Had the human ordered her to? She didn't know and her arm hurt and she almost lost the lantern and the succubus probably still wanted to hurt her and the dog-monster wasn't making sense and everything was so scary now, why was it so scary here and her mummy and daddy still hadn't come back and-and-and-!

"Impressive leap out of there."

Cheru sighs.
"Tom, get put her somewhere safe. I have some hot chocolate ready that I was going to give out to you people. Give it to her.

Then, we need to talk. You, me. Alone."
"Do you think I WANTED to do that?! I would have DIED if I didn't!"

Tom sighs.
"Ton, come with me. We'll talk away from everyone and I can explain why he did that. Alright?"

Ton makes protesting noises, looking at Keith and wiggling farther into Tom's shoulder. But when Tom asks her, she demurrs, and nods reluctantly. One hand holds onto his as she follows him, staying as close as she can without quite tripping.

(also,she never said her name, so I'm just gonna go with that being your nickname for her that she follows now)

"Excellent, I don't even have to talk to you about that. Get on that. I'd rather not clean up a corpse." Cheru goes off with a mop and a bucket to clean up the gore left from stabbing Yukari.
