Ton smiles, a cute image only partially offset by the gore, and hugs his leg again. Then she looks up at him, face blank again, and tips her head to one side. She obviously means to go where he does, for the time being.

The small girl follows behind, bare feet sweeping over the ground with eery silence, though it's broken up by the clicking of her lantern as it swings in her hand.

Tom occasionally turns back to smile at her as he leads to the apartment. They may get there soon.

Eventually Ton reaches up with her free hand to grip his fingers. Even if he wanted to, he wouldn't be able to pull his hand away; Tonberries are still much, much, stronger than humans, and most of that strength is housed in the wrist.
