Zach says telepathically to the dragon "What do you want from us? Don't destroy the city, we could give you anything you want just not the death of all of those innocents. Those people have lives, families, and years to go destroying it will do nothing. You can gain riches of a thousand lifetimes, do not go to the city."

Zach feels a very powerful voice in his head, almost causing him to black out from the sheer force of it.

 I want your souls.

Kyle casually looks at the dragon.

Carrick sighed.
"It seems peace cannot be achieved. Why must we fight?"

Miaka didn't hear the voice, but nonetheless sensed the malevolent intent of the dragon. She backed away.
"I-Is he..."

[PrivateNomad]

The dragon sensed the fear of Miaka and shifted a purple eye over to her, speaking into her mind with a sudden power:

 I sense your fear, weakling.

Kyle steps in front of Miaka.

Carrick places himself between Miaka and the dragon. As does Elizabeth.
"Leave this place, dragon of the shadows. We will not allow you to harm anymore. Your harvesting of souls has disrupted the land, and the land is not......pleased."

Indeed, his allies and the dragon might be seeing the wisps of ghosts moving around and between them, centered on Carrick; or rather, his lantern.
Miaka stands defiantly, her initial surprise gone.
"Nonsense! I am sure we can talk this out."

"Harvesting souls. Original."
Kyle says in monotone.

The dragon snorts once and this time, speaks to everyone this time.

 I do not desire weaklings' souls. I want your souls.

"Harvesting souls. Original."
Kyle says in monotone.

"Then we won't let that happen!" Miaka cries defiantly.

"Very well."

Ascen gives the freeze ray to Blas as he needs it more than Ascen. Ascen also starts giving out the around fifty magical airplanes. Ascen picks up rocks and puts a circle that makes the rocks turn to steel, explode on contact after a second, and before the delay when the rock is thrown the speed is boosted 20 mph.

If the dragon doesn't attack yet, Elizabeth and Carrick move backwards and ready an attack. Miaka is still defiant.

If it does attack:
Elizabeth forms a shield of spirit fire to protect her allies from the dragon's attacks, reducing the damage taken by everyone for three turns.

Carrick summons an Prideful Wraith and a Delirious Wraith. The Prideful Wraith uses Avaricious Omen on the dragon, while the Delirious Wraith uses Manic Possession to insert itself into the dragon's mind to damage it for three turns.

Miaka readies a cyclone to blast at the dragon.

 Fools. You do not know my power. Run while you still can, and one of you may survive.

Tia is staring up at the dragon in horror, her eyes wide and her hands on her mouth.

"Nonsense. We will prevail!" Miaka looks hopeful. "We're not going to give up simply because you are bigger than us!"

 Then I will kill you first and tear your frail little body limb to limb before harvesting your soul.

"Now that doesn't seem like a very nice thing to do to a pretty young lady, does it?"

The voice seems to come out of nowhere, until a dark-skinned man in a white suit steps forward into the light, from where he'd been presumably lounging in the shadow of a building. His eyes are dark pools, and a glimmer of...something shines in them.

"You should at least take her out to dinner first."
