What about just some other unexplained phenomena? You know, like when a ghost doesn't realize they're dead? Or remains out of a desire to protect something/someone? That way the whole aspect of ancestral spirits and shrines and such aren't completely fucked?

Just saying we need to leave some gaps in the lore for stuff that we haven't accounted for yet because wehaven't encountered it yet.

Think of those as 'glitches' that not even Mort can explain, assuming PN-chan's fine with it. Hell, make anything unexplainable a glitch or a tiny loophole.

After all, the world's law isn't perfect- even Fairy Law can be subverted, and that's enforced very harshly by three gods who disapprove of it being broken, period. Not a lot of things are enforcing the law of the world itself, and those who do don't enforce near as hard as Oberon, Medb and Titania.

Oberon, Titania, and Medb aren't really around to enforce the law. They're like half-dead/asleep at the moment, or at least so far back into the depths of Faerie that no one's encountered them in centuries. They've got some stuff left behind that helps enforce it, but it's pretty damn wonky and unreliable, most times.

But yes, Faerie Law is rife with loopholes. The loopholes are like half the point. For example: killing changelings is okay, so if you know really really food blood magic and have some human blood handy, you can turn a Fae into a changeling and then kill them.

Well, there we go. No law is iron-tight, and ghosts can technically be created by the desire to protect someone- which would kinda fall under regret, as they probably want to make up for dying on them by protecting them and their descendants- or just not realising they're dead.

Hmm, Still, How does Soarla's Curse of Dulla work on a dead body then? do they need a sense of regret, or an imprint of wanting to live?

Pretty hard to feel regret or the desire to live if you've not got a mind to feel it with. The body's long dead. Soarla needs to be the one who kills it to turn it into a Dullahan, unless the soul was somehow kept in the body by regret and hasn't turned into a ghost yet.

In which case, chop chop.

It probably also wouldn't work on something that was already undead (ghosts, Gravediggers, reapers, zombies, vampires, ghouls, wraiths, etc.) as the curse of Dulla, if I recall correctly, turns something undead.

Bleh. Ok how about this:

Soarla an only turn a recently deceased body into a dullahan, and only when the soul is lingering due to some imprinted memory of regret or desire to live.

Second, If a Reaper or a gravedigger lay claim to the soul, Soarla will choose not to turn them.

Third, If she implants the death magic and the soul does not return to the body, any wounds inflicted by her sword are reverted.

Any additional things?
