That +1 "crafting skill levels" appears to give +1 to Masonry, Fusion and Mana Stream. Though before I noticed the +1s on the skll screen I tested with two similar fragments with same starting level of same effect, and upgraded them both. The one I upgraded while that fragment was equipped got better upgrades despite the fact that it was actually a lower rarity. So either upgrades are random, or that effect helps upgrades.

They're certainly random.  Even in the crap level fragments, I've had one that was +9 to initial mana with a lower level than one that was +20.  The upgrade formula seems to be a bit random too- perhaps there's a hidden level modifier each fragment has as well.

So level 200 and you only used half of 10$ worth of cores? So not forever but incredibly long, plus you lack the magician's pouch that makes thinks a crap load easier.

I don't support the f2p (with microtransactions that add up to hundreds of dollars) model that a lot of games are embracing these days but for me the magicians pouch is more a case of upgrading from the demo to full version and considering the entertainment Ive gotten out of this game the $5 is well worth it. I've just pushed past level 50 and am starting to reach the point that levels are becoming much more difficult, I think there are a few tiles I haven't done yet and a bunch of missions I've skipped, but I am getting the feeling that to progress much further I am going to need to start going back and grabbing as much xp as I can from old levels. I guess this is where the pouch really shines as endurance mode is a bunch of extra xp / mission which will hopefully make it easier for me to keep pushing through the levels. It's good to know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel as I was beginning to think the difficulty level would just continue to get steeper until I was spending hours just to beat 1 extra wave which would have killed it for me.

So after playing around with the endurance mode I've found that the biggest advantage lies in the fact that endurance mode starts at a predetermined level regardless of how many waves you add through traits. This lets you double dip on both xp and mana which is pretty awesome. Doing F2 with a 6.4 multipler I earned 80k xp from the mission and an additional 160k from endurance, pretty sweet. Also I'm actually getting more shadow cores than I am spending on the levels which lets me avoid any tedious farming between xp runs.

Anyone still playing this? I hadn't touched it since my last post, and decided to come take a look again. There have been a bunch of patches. I see the shadow core problem is much diminished. I'm getting way more than I used to. Spent 84 on the last map I did and received over 200 back. That didn't used to happen. Kind of feel like it's a waste of time playing without endurance though.

I am still playing this. I took a break for a few days, but I'm back to it now.

You were spot on. Yellow-White-Red is leaps and bounds better than using Orange instead of Yellow. I still use Orange, of course, but now it's a pure color gem in its own tower somewhere as far from the damage gem as I can manage, and I turn on its Beam enhancement whenever I can. I'm sure your level far exceeds my own right now, though, so I'm not really sure what I can comment on. You've certainly made it further in tiles than I have.

For mention, I'm level 212.

I'm level 212.

Level 267 with 303 achievements completed. Still stuck at X, and have three skills missing. Though two of those I assume are from premium-only tiles. Probably poolbound and bloodbound. Don't know what the other skill is yet.

Try some Chapter Zero style mana farming trap lines.

Takes more skillpoints than it did in Chapter Zero, but at your level you probably have more than you need. Might be worth experimenting with white in there too if you have it.

Beam enhancement

I find I get better results with barrage.

I haven't found bloodbound yet, myself. I'll let you know where it is when I do.

I almost turned you down on this, but I'll give it a shot.

In traps, this is a no-brainer, but mana is generated per hit, and tower beams cause a massive number of hits at much lower damage.

What's your highest rarity on fragments?

Edit: Orange-Red-White traps are amazing. Really slow to start off, but once they reach grade 7, more than worth the investment. They work best in groups of 3 when backed up by 1 Blue-Red-White trap, to maximum hits on all of the mana traps. Once a mana trap reaches grade 12(I think?), it starts pulling in something like 200 mana per hit, and the mana pool skyrockets. On the level in which I first used them, I achieved a level 16 mana pool, made a grade 16 gem, and achieved a maximum mana pool of something like 5 million, at one point.

I just reached level 232, and I'm going to bed. Still haven't found Bloodbound, since I'm going back over the first few levels on Haunting difficulty to grab some talismans and some levels. Just snagged an 80 rarity fragment. It's crimson, and at upgrade level 8, it gives these bonuses:
+9% xp gained
+32% faster orblet rollback
+125 initial mana
+17% damage to swarmlings
+33% slower killchain counter cooldown
+17% damage to reavers
+18% damage to giants
+1 to component skill levels

Just did a run for 18m xp and jumped a stupid number of levels. Up to 187 now but at this rate I should be able to get a few hundred easy levels from just a couple of early tiles. The big game changer for me was getting the poolbound skill and the gem damage skill. My Red-Yellow-White gems are crazy powerful now, like burn down 1 billion hp giants powerful now. I've found that filling the amps with pure yellow gems makes a huge difference on higher levels and can hit 200x crit multiplers on my gems now.

Edit : New record - 35.4m xp! Doing runs on glaring with most traits maxed out for 30.9 multiplier but the big change I've made is pumping 9 gems worth of enrage into every wave. The extra xp is just insane and the bonus mana lets me puch further into endurance mode. Only problem is it costs me 316 cores per run although I normally net about 200 so overall the burn rate isn't too harsh and considering the xp I am getting it seems worth it.

Going to stop for the night but I just made 77m xp off one run..... pretty insane, I've broken level 300 now and I've only completed 3 runs. The amount of levels I am gaining at the moment is insane and it's all thanks to gem bombing waves. I do 19 at a time now which not only boosts the xp per standard monster to insane level (45 base xp for reavers) but also increases the number per wave to 400-500. Even without endurance mode I would easily be pulling in 50m xp per mission now. The only problem is that I can't keep up with the core cost of both missions and fragments so my inventory is building up while I level.

Is there a fast way to fire multiple gem bombs?

Is there a fast way to fire multiple gem bombs?

There are two, depending on what you want.

First, you can create a gem that you want to use as the template for all bombing gems. Create the gem, press B, and then hold Shift. The outline of the Gem Bomb icon will turn yellow. Anywhere you click, a copy of the templating gem will be bombed there, after paying the cost for creating the copy.

Second, you can create gems in advance, press Shift, and then press B. The outline of the Gem Bomb icon will turn orange. Anywhere you click, gems will be taken out of your tray, in order, and bombed onto the screen.

Edit: Just hit a new milestone. :) 187.7M xp from a run, gained 98 levels, am now level 400. I have a 90 rarity fragment, and it's p cool.

67, but most of my fragments are in the 20s and 30s still.

I just made 77m xp off one run

Chapte Zero was that way too once you could pull off a successful endurance run. I think I might set this game aside for now. It's too tedious spending 30 minutes on a field only to get a couple hundred thousand additional xp from it knowing that if I had endurance I could roughly double my total xp from a single run. Maybe when it comes to kongregate.

Bloodbound is in W5.

I also found a super weird glitch. It does really, really bizarre things to the game. If you have a gem in a slot, and a gem enhancement shrine with at least 100% charge, and then set yourself up to prototype bomb with the trayed gem and select the enhancement shrine for bombing, the game will tell you that that shrine is for gems only. Then, without moving the mouse, press B to activate trayed bombing, and select the shrine again. The gem bomb will be spent and the shrine will activate as normal, but a ghost of the spent gem will be stuck in the tray. You can then hold X over the ghost gem to redeem it for extra mana. Infinitely. However, other weird things begin to happen. Some of your gems may vanish for unknowable reasons, gems will get slotted into the level border as if it were an amplifier or another part of the tray and then become unclickable, and so on.

Just unlocked haunting difficulty...... oh my god the xp is crazy now! 660M is my new record, I gained 120+ levels from that one lol. This is without endurance mode by the way, 102 levels was enough for me. I also got 2 level 50 fragments, a level 69 and a level 73. Considering I still have <L10 fragments to replace these are pretty big upgrades for me. I don't think that endurance mode is too much of a help anymore but the chain skill is absolutely crucial for dealing with gem bombed waves. I was playing around with skills before and found that with no points put into chain even 9 gem bombs were creating too many mobs for me to deal with but once I put 18 into it I could safely bomb the waves up to the 999 monster cap.

F1 on haunting is awesome for farming cores, really high chance to spawn a shadow which from me is 100 cores and since it's only 6 waves long you can grab 1000 cores without too much drama.

So in other words, if you don't have the premium you're in for a grind?

I unlocked spawnling domination today- that was annoying.  "New trait!  LOLNOPE!"

Beam enhancement. I use spawnling domination on every single run, level 7. If level 7 spawnling domination were a question, beam enhancement would be the answer. However, I do not use adaptive carapace or bacon storm. Too many beacon hp around wave 120...
