Mound & Blade: Warband (Floris Mod) Brave New World
« on: April 04, 2014, 08:29:25 pm »

I've been contracted by Blaze to do a LP of M&B:WB.
This is my first ever LP, so with that in mind, let's get started.
I'm not terribly great at narrative, so this will be rather light on player-provided story.
This will primarily be a Screenshot and text LP, but video (sans commentary, no mic) is possible.

Suggestions from experience will be given, and minor decisions and combat won't be subject to votes.
Items open for votes/Suggestions will be given a green glow.

This post and the next may be edited from time to time.
Notice may or may not be given.

Game is currently running at absolute maximum in-game detail, minus "Auto-Exposure". That crap just annoys me.
All SS will be click-through thumbnails to imgur, taken at 1280x1024.
Might tweak the adapter settings to do higher AA, if it's requested.

First thing's first though!
Should I be playing with Vanilla/Native, or should I toss some mods up in here?

I'm running the latest version (1.158) and have the Napoleonic Wars DLC. Most mods don't care about anything other than the version.
As with any LP, it's best if we stick to stable mods, but if consensus shows a desire for a newly released mod that hasn't been thoroughly de-bugged, then so be it.

A stable one is Floris.  Basically Vanilla+ if you use the Reworked troop tree.  Of course, if you want troop composition to be... extensive...  Use the expanded version. And yea, there is the Vanilla troop tree too.

1257 AD or Rigale would be more interesting.

Floris is pretty much the best mod. Not just for M&B, but out of all mods ever. It just improves everything that much. Gameplay, Graphics, its practically a sequel to the game with all the stuff it adds.

Brytenwalda, the Saxons must conquer!
But in Brytenwalda, the Saxons only have other Saxons to conquer. Theres just no variety at all :(

I do like the cloak "headpieces" though, wish I knew how to add something like that to Floris.

Not true. You have Angles, Picts, Welsh, Scots and the Oirish to choose from.

If I could vote I would vote for a mod that has Ron's Realistic Combat Model (RCM for short) or a mod balanced in a similar way.

If The Last Days (TLD) mod ever made it to Warband I would vote for that.

I'd say the unique thing about Brytenwalda is that most troops use spears and heavy cavalry is pretty rare...

Floris it is.
I'll look into seeing if there's a minor mod that includes that combat modeling, Duuvian.
First play session will be here in an hour or so!

E: Seems Floris includes enhanced combat animations, Duuvian. Hope they're to your liking :)
First play session will probably be delayed by a bit more than half an hour, due to the sheer size of Floris's download (1.2G)

And there are no lances.  You wanna stab someone?  You gotta ride up and poke 'em yourself.  No one-hit-kill-anything lance charge.
