"I don't remember which side I was on. All I know is that I took a very hard hit to the head at some point during the battle, and woke up after it ended, I'd say I'm quite lucky to be alive right about now."
The man glares at you in silence for a few seconds afterwards, but abruptly turns to the archers and signals for them to stand down before ordering the crossbowmen to come over to where he's standing. Turning his attention back to you, he gives you a look over once more before replying,
"What you said seems to be the truth, for the most part at least, if it was up to me I'd kill you here and now, but Terian calls the shots and he'll be deciding what to do with you I'd say. Now if you'd be so kind as to let these nice men to escort you up to the boss we'll find out how you'll be spending the next hour of your life, or less depending on whether he wants you to keep your head."
With a slight chuckle he signals to the crossbowmen and they fall in behind, and to the side of you with their weapons leveled at your chest just waiting for you to act out or disobey them. With no real choice about it you go along with the crossbowmen, and begin to make your way up the tower towards the top floor, you're quite surprised to find the second floor filled with mats and beds along with (from what you could count) twenty more people lounging around in the room. The differences between the second and third floor however surprise you, the beds and mats are replaced with bookshelves, bags, and crates that are more often then not filled with books or scrolls of some sort while the rest contain writing supplies and the like. You're led through the maze of crates, and bookshelves to a small circular area at the center where you find an aging man stooped over a desk covered in maps, scrolls, and manuscripts in dozens of scripts and languages.
Without even looking at those who approached the man starts up,
"So you're the supposed intruder? Welcome to the remains of Fort Traxis, my name is Terian, the leader of this group of people who have lost their homes, and their protector should the need arise that they truly need one. I've already heard what you said to Markus at the entrance, and for now I'll choose to believe it even though I know you're lying, I have a proposition for you nameless soldier and I do hope it intrigues you for as you can tell I'm old and don't have the time to make many an alternative for you. I will allow you a place here in the ruins of Fort Traxis, a place to rest in safety from the troubles outside, and even meals should you want them for those times when you wish to stay here, in return I want you to help me.
You'll act as my eyes, ears, and from time to time my mouth out in the world for the times are changing, I can feel it in my bones, and those of us ravaged by this war won't find a home in these lands much longer unless we forge our own. The world as we know it is being shattered as the Black Empire stabs the swords of its legions into the very hearts of the Seven Isles, and those who are left behind to the chaos to come I wish to find a place for here. There will be times where I ask you to observe, times where I ask you to speak, and times where I ask you to kill but in return I will help you in whatever it is you seek to do, I can feel it in your very presence that there is a great destiny and desire within you. So what do you say Nameless Soldier, will you aid me or will you leave this Fort and strike it out on your own into the unknown for those are the only two options open to you."
