Yes.  I blame myself for not setting a firm deadline.
I blame me more for technical issues, pressure, being affected by seemingly present insults which aren't even insults in reality but seem like it despite their intent to get the turn going on, and technical issues. And shame. That's our culture.
Deep shame that you guys don't even it takes a lot to post here again and thanks NQT/4mask :'(

1) I'm not running this again; someone else can.
2) A week's a reasonable timeframe, I think.

ATTENTION CHUMPS! Since toaster won't be running this anymore, we need a new gm. Mostly someone to keep track of stuff and update OP and such. I think a new thread might be best, however that brings us to the next question: should this still be something mafia-related (if yes, how?) or just a regular ol' community fort?

Ah, c'est la vie.

From my experience--making it Mafia related is...hard.
As in, its hard to play by the usual board rules and come out accusing someone of being the vampire every week until he kills, as an example. It's a waste of dwarves D: (but that's usually me, because I pride every single dwarven soul.) But it can work--however its more only limited to either public disturbances, or an overeager overseer who can handle the strain of perceived suspicion and/or paranoia.
...Now I've another thing to be ashamed of. Playing DF Like Mafia is totally a thing. Just needs a shift of viewpoint into how the Mayor would oversee it. x_x

I wouldn't make it themed any more than whatever you want written in flavor text.  I didn't go searching for the previous theme; it just fell into my lap in a world I genned.  I certainly wouldn't enforce related mechanics (every overseer kills off a dwarf or the like.)  In fact, my original intent was "hey, us Mafia board people should do a succession fort."

No hard feelings; like I said, I should have said "no problem, we'll just move on."  You're still a cool cucumber.

Very well, regular fort with potential mafia flavor theme. All in favor?

Next item, Anyone up for gm?

Well, I'm on here every weekday anyway, so if no one else volunteers I suppose I could be arsed to do it.

OK. Shake's running the show. My suggested location:

Crannog Fort: we pick a location with a large lake tile (with enough land tiles though so we still get visitors), and we build the fort over the lake. Accidental drowning, wood and stone shortages, turtle shells everywhere, everything fun.

So, we have a gm!

Next issue: what theme do you want to use? And besides flavor, anything else (eg special rules) anybody had in mind?

Let's see...

The site I picked for the first one didn't have metal ores listed in the finder (I believe I faked them into the screenshot for hilarity) and had a necromancer tower within range.  It was on a neat site with a canyon and waterfall.  Reasonable wood access and no aquifer shenanigans.

(EDIT:  That's just FYI and not a suggestion.  I'd run with pretty much anything, though I think glaciers have been done to death)

Question: is it possible, using whatever third party tools, to add objects directly into the game map?

If yes, you could work with challenges, eg 'build a small statue in the form of a toaster by the end of the year and the fort shall be awarded three whole donkeys! failure will mean an angry cyclops is spawned instead. Good luck!'

I'm sure there's a tool that lets you do that somewhere.

Hmm. Anyone have any ideas on how to increase the vampire count?
Could we make a secondary set if castes for dwarves and add the appropriate tags to them to make them drink blood like vampires? Then just give them a low pop ratio so they aren't too common, and don't give them a distiguishing caste name, and then even a member of the founding seven could be a scum dwarf.

Oh look, I have a steam account.
Might as well chalk it up to Pathos.
As this point we might as well invoke interpretive dance and call it a day.

Yes, that'd be good.  Please link it in here when you make it.

Here's another question; wait until the upcoming release or use the current?

Sure, but that can introduce irregularities.  If a version is expected in 3 or so days and we're still planning, waiting is a possibility.
