When you first get to the Wharf District, the first thing that you notice is the large, decrepit frigate, floating in the harbor. By all accounts, it should be at the bottom of the sea, but here it is, standing just as well as any other, wood rot, ragged sails and all.
The next thing you notice are the corpses. Walking corpses, shuffling off of it and onto the dock with ragged determination. They all look like they've been dead for quite some time. Most are goblins, but an elf captain can be seen, directing the crew limply, in some parody of life. A handful of undead goblins shuffle past you, carrying an unconscious merchant. They don't seem to mind your presence, and even walk around you, if necessary.

Kerr'tan tries to remember everything he has ever heard about undead creatures from his mentor. Perhaps, it was not a good thing that he was much more interested in stars and herbal remedies than in actual lore...

As the goblins walk past carrying the unconscious merchant, try to stop them. DO NOT attack them yet, but get ready for a fight.

How are you trying to stop them? Are you just getting in their way and yelling, or are you actually touching them and trying to make them drop the merchant?

For future reference, if you want to roll something, just do it like this:
Lore - Undead (-1): 8 > 5
In this case, you get a -1 for having a different specialty. Remember to also include the target number, because margins of success are important.

You can't seem to remember anything your mentor taught you about undead at the moment, and you're sure that if you could, it wouldn't apply to this.

For future reference, if you want to roll something, just do it like this:
Lore - Undead (-1): 8 > 5
Would you guys rather I just roll for you or something?

You can't seem to remember anything, either. This is a situation that your knowledge doesn't seem to cover.

How are you trying to stop them? Are you just getting in their way and yelling, or are you actually touching them and trying to make them drop the merchant?
I'm just getting in the way and yelling, not actually trying to physically stop them from walking past. Yet.

EDIT: also, look to see what they are armed and/or armored with.

They simply walk around you and pay no attention.

also, look to see what they are armed and/or armored with.
They're clothed in tribal garb, with mostly leather or iron armor in various states of disrepair. Most of them aren't carrying weapons, but some are wielding shoddy iron short swords and handaxes. The one in the lead brandishes what appears to be a scythe on the end of a long staff, which is in surprisingly good repair, considering the state most of their equipment is in.
