anything with one eye is magic.  Organisms with multiple eyes can injure themselves until they have only one eye.  Therefore, self-injury is a step on the path the magic.

Suicide is the path to magic. Suicide is seen as bad. Necromancy is bad magic. Therefore, suicide is the path to necromancy.

programming creates ghosts.  Programmers  are always around computers.  Therefore programmers are literal Ghosts in the Machine.
