 I wonder if this can happen in dwarf fortress dwarf mode:

The sgt. missing an arm, and is female, yup.
leaves infant behind when going into action, nope.
Seeks infant after the event, yup
Mason falling, yup.
Dwarf using moveable ladder, nope.
Somebody catching falling dwarf, nope.

So 50% right on Dwarf Fortress.

Eventually yes on the ladder, and sort of yes on the last one - if two units fall on top of each other, only the bottom one takes damage.
