"The people in Lugansk and Donetsk support federalization, which complicates the operation", told on Channel 5 President of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov

Can anyone find it, is it true? He is not using term terrorist, but people?

I think he's using the term "people" for Pro-Russian supporters who aren't armed and holding government buildings. Ukrainian government official statements have not hesitated to call anyone occupying government property by force terrorists. It's honestly a surprising (or foolish) thing for a president to admit in a time like this. When the eastern half of your country is slowly destabilizing, as fair as it is to admit to their wishes, it will only galvanize them further. I think a lot of the West continually fails to appreciate how potent the emotions on either side of this are running. While admitting to their desires may be polite and diplomatic and one would expect a lessening of tension on the other side because of it...the greater likelihood is they will take that statement and run with it. Not "Yes, you're right, let us come to the table and talk about it" but "You're damn right we do, now get the hell out of our town while we vote on it!"
I find it interesting, because generally UA propaganda is that there is no support from normal people in that regions, and all of the ones that protest and do other crap are people that are from russia/terrorist and that there is very little support  for federalization.

straight people get support?

i thought lgbt people get support because of that whole lack of equal rights and discrimination thing

now you've piqued my interest

Children and teenagers are generally taught through good sex education that sexual activity and everything that comes with it is totally fine, natural and a part of life. They are also taught (again, if the education is "good") about how to be safe and healthy while remaining sexually active. Examples of this include how to avoid sexually transmitted diseases, how the contraceptive pill works and how to use a condom. This is what I mean by "straight people receiving support".

Now, perhaps Sergarr should think on the following:

Inevitably, there will be children and teenagers who, through the hand of god or the roll of a dice, are sexually attracted to either the same sex or both sexes. How can those children and teenagers stay safe and healthy if teaching them about the things that affect them is considered "gay propaganda" (and therefore a criminal offence) and their government as a whole considers those feelings sexually deviant, unnatural and worst of all "non-traditional"? Furthermore, when education is always the key to removing prejudice, how can society move towards greater acceptance of LGBT people if it's illegal to teach kids or teenagers about them at any time?

Sex education for all orientations is all the more important when HIV/AIDS is currently rising in the former USSR at a pretty alarming rate.

Can't you read, or do you simply play stupid to gain some imaginary high ground?

I can't see how my interpretation of what you said was wrong. Maybe you could prove that instead of just telling me I'm wrong? That would be more constructive.

gee thanks for tossing me on the other side of the fence when i were chilling away from the fence whatsoever m8

's not like sex ed isn't one hell of a joke in most places if it even exists (truth be told, in a lot of places it's a relatively recent invention) but you have a point there

I didn't throw you onto the other side of the fence Slowpoke, forgive me for causing this misunderstanding. I responded to your original question then began directing my arguments at Sergarr. Perhaps I should make that clearer. I shall do so now.

I remember my Russian school had a very smart principal who insisted on including proper sex ed in the curriculum, with instructions on how to use condoms and everything. My friend from another school recalls that their sex ed amounted to "Don't fuck, 'cause it's bad and immoral."

Well.... Position of Ukrainian government is the same from day one. Decentralization is desired by majority of the country and it is a good thing and it will be done. It has nothing to do with the "creation" of "people Donbass republic"

Ok ladies and gentlemens, I'm sorry for adding flames to this thread. I should probably stop posting in this thread until more news arrive.

And everyone else quit dog piling. It is possible to disagree with each other and "call each other out" without all the swearing and stuff. This thread has been a report magnet, and Toady has already said once (probably more than once now) that he's tired of seeing it.

Remember what I said about people who want to fight should go beat each other up in a field instead of causing collateral damage?

The only person who made a really good such map was Vasya Lozhkin:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
All other ones are meh.
Remember we talked about that anti-Russian art installation and I mentioned that we get much more insulting art from our own people?

Quod Erat Demonstrandum.
In comparison with stuff made by people like Marat Gelman, which was done on purpose to expose the "barbarousness" of Russia to the "civilized West", Lozhkin's stuff is making fun of it. Lozhkin himself isn't cosmopolitan, doesn't worship the West and doesn't hate Russia and Russians in particular, like many members of today's Russian so-called "creative class".

I think that stuff like this and this isn't as offensive as, for example, this (Gelman's anti-Sochi Olympics's exhibition in Perm).

EDIT: Ukrainian news website 112.ua claimed yesterday that pro-Russian forces kidnapped Ukrainian border guards from the border checkpoint near the villiage of Luhanovka in the Luhansk district.

Okay so what i got from my Newspaper this morning is the following about Odessa:

Pro-Ukrainians demonstrated, apparently peacefully, against Russia and came under attack from Pro-Russian Demonstrators which were supported by the Police. According to my Newspaper it then came to clashes in which the Police formed Shieldwalls while Pro-Russians armed with Kalashnikovs opened fire on the Pro-Ukrainians who somehwo still drove them back.
Following that that one building went on fire by god knows whom and people started dying. However Pro-Ukrainians Protesters moved to help the people caught in the building.

I'll go ahead and say that death-toll would probably be much higher if people would start shooting with automatic weapons. So that makes me a bit skeptical. Then again, there were pictures of one side at least brandishing AKs, so maybe there is some truth in that.

And tied to your news: here's is an article that made me think about something that wasn't that much mentioned in this topic - how did the fire start in the THIRD floor of the building?

An article in pro-Russian leaning Ukrainian website Vesti.ua has its own version of events, as seen by its journalist present during the riots - it claims that while all sides in the riots were armed with Molotov cocktails and non-lethal pneumatic pistols, people wearing red armbands, who opened live fire at Ukrainian supporters and who were reported to be pro-Russian gunmen were possibly (as alleged by the journalist's contacts in the Odessa police) provocateurs sent by someone (allegedly the Kiev authorities) to frame the pro-Russian forces. It also claims that Ukrainian nationalists didn't help the people who managed to flee the fire but beat them instead.
