I'll bet you 10$* that by summer the current government won't be in place anymore.

"military exercises ON Ukraine"? I think you missed the important word "the border".

Also, mainiac, now is probably the time for those "real sanctions" to arrive?
Fully fledged trade blockades in both meat- and cyberspace? Better late than never I guess.
As you'll see, they will never do that.

I'd say they're inching closer.
Your doubting is cute.
I do no "doubt". I know that if they didn't sanction Russia after it just conquered a piece of territory from Ukraine they will not sanction Russia for anything.

EDIT: derp grammar mistakes herp

You wanna do that avatar bet?

I'll bet that if the elected government is heavily pro-Putin, he will immediately recognise its legitimacy.
Nope, not taking that one.

Why?

Because Russia rations avatars.

You should be able to set one in your profile. Not like it's a 'donors only' kinda deal.

I have the same feeling. Possibly 48 hours. Definitely by the weekend, though.

Let's hope that the next 24 hours wouldn't be in the next Call of Duty.

Yes it would be boring if the next call of duty game featured a lot of news reports but little violence.  I prefer my CoD more shooty less talky.

Define "strongly anti-Putin".

I'd let those not participating in the thread vote on that when the time comes, but... rejecting trade ties with Russia, refusing to pay the bill Russia has decided they own, cutting off services to Crimea, going whole hog about EU economic stuff, entering talks to try and join NATO, anti-Russian-language legislation passed, expulsion of foreign Russians and moves to tighten the borders, etc and so on.

Any two of those, really. Probably not even that much.

How did "anti-Putin" transformed into "ant-Russia" so easily???

You know, there are a lot of people who do not like him, and most of these measures would hurt them more than Putin himself.

Still less than a war would. And the point of sanctions, I've always thought, is to put domestic pressure on the leaders of whatever place to change their policy. The best way to do that is to do something that affects the people directly, so it becomes their problem and they push for change. In theory, anyway.
