This is probably a more important indicator, NASA stopping space cooperation stuff with Russia

This seems like a really bad and stupid idea. Why would they do this? What's the actual bloody point?
Save for the ISS, which excluded from this cooperation stop, NASA hardly cooperates with Russia anymore. So no real harm done.

Quote from: NASA statement
Given Russia's ongoing violation of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, NASA is suspending the majority of its ongoing engagements with the Russian Federation. NASA and Roscosmos will, however, continue to work together to maintain safe and continuous operation of the International Space Station. NASA is laser focused on a plan to return human spaceflight launches to American soil, and end our reliance on Russia to get into space. This has been a top priority of the Obama Administration’s for the past five years, and had our plan been fully funded, we would have returned American human spaceflight launches – and the jobs they support – back to the United States next year. With the reduced level of funding approved by Congress, we’re now looking at launching from U.S. soil in 2017. The choice here is between fully funding the plan to bring space launches back to America or continuing to send millions of dollars to the Russians. It’s that simple. The Obama Administration chooses to invest in America – and we are hopeful that Congress will do the same
That and they're trying to use patriotism to get actual funding.

Also, apparently the IMF is actually cautioning hard *against* austerity, and has been doing so in Europe for a while now, and is instead advocating that Ukraine raise taxes on the wealthy.

It's the ECB that generally pushes for "austerity" measures.

For example, the recent IMF suggestion that Ukraine end their gas subsidy was coupled with the idea that they should give out the gas for free to poor people.

Showing Russia that they're all alone. Shunning them, basically.

Not that anyone had the guts (or gas resources) to do it properly, but still.
Russia has historical experience of being 'all alone' - since the defeat of the White forces in the Russian civil war and up until the 1930s Soviet Union hadn't had diplomatic and trade relations with practically all major Western countries, who fought against the Bolsheviks in the Russian Civil War and still regarded the Whites as the legitimate rulers of Russia after their defeat. Eventually, the Western world recognized the Soviet government and established diplomatic relations with the USSR.

Comrade P. we had them already, from ethnic Crimeans and Tatars.  :P
I haven't seen those. Where the links were posted?

Don't you remember all the protests and counter protests where Tatars and Russo-Ukrainians were coming to blows? Were you just ignoring that? The threats from certain Crimean Tatar Syrian war veterans who were saying they were ready to wage jihad upon the Russians? The referendum the Tatars are trying to hold right now? Where have you been over the last 3 months?

But those aren't real Crimeans. They aren't the people who actually matter if they start protesting to go back to Ukraine. :P

Besides, that's only 3.23% of the population.  ::)

Hey, what are we arguing about again?

So.

The Maidan was about getting the money-hungry people out of the goverment.

The current leader on the upcoming vote is the 7-th most wealthy person in Ukraine.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who sees a problem with that.

You must be thinking Maydan was run by socialists....

Revolution was made by an alliance of liberal and nationalist minded people, why should we care about rich people? Desire to have money is absolutely normal, healthy and necessary for national success.

Revolution wasn't about "rich people are bad". Revolution was about "Breaking the law is bad. Stealing from the budget is bad. Taking and giving bribes is bad. Ignoring basic human rights is bad. Suppressing national identify is bad. Turning us into a puppet of Russia is bad."

Not about - Rich person in the government is bad.

I don't think that a 7-th wealthiest person in Ukraine could have gotten all that wealth without engaging into "shady" business.

Ukrainian business is all dirty and any businessman needed to cooperate with the corrupt system. So Yep, I don't believe in his 100% honesty. But....

Poroshenko is a guy who created Roshen, one of the few brands that is truly competitive on foreign markets. It is modern confectionery industry not ineffective remains of Soviet heavy industry or natural resources.
Poroshenko is a guy who created and maintained opposition TV channel
Poroshenko is the only billionaire who was present at Maydan. In some cases not in very safe situations
Poroshenko has no known ties with organized crime unlike most of out other oligarchs
Poroshenko looks and talks like an European politician not like a crimelord or Soviet relic

Yes I'd like some other president with enemy less ties with the former system... But Still Poroshenko is a huge progress comparing to what we had before. Most likely I'll vote for him. If he'll not behave in a way that we like... We know how to build barricades
