Baby is Killing my Fort
« on: April 01, 2014, 02:32:52 pm »

Yeah... A baby just ripped her mother in half and then turned into a werebeast.

On the one hand, that thing could infect all of my dwarves and make me have a werebeast fort.

On the other hand, she just ripped her mother in half and then she turned into a werebeast.

Just how strong is this baby?

My world is on year 548, and my fortress is on year 53.

Well, an update. The baby has bitten two of my military dwarves and then she transformed back into a baby.

Will I be stuck with this single baby for all eternity?

I could kill it, or I could attempt to make an entire fortress of werebeasts...

Which do you lot think I should try?

Killing it would be the best option I would think. Unless I'm wrong, I'm pretty sure they aren't considered civ members while transformed.

How in the hells?

Also, werebeast fort. Do it. Don't listen to Splint, he hates fun.

Hard science is like a sword, and soft science is like fear. You can use both to equally powerful results, but even if your opponent disbelieve your stabs, they will still die.

Yeah man, werebeasts for the win!  You may want to check out Loud Whispers' research on the subject though.  He has a fort with a bunch of were creatures in it (werecivets if I remember correctly).

I will run the experiment to completion anyway, however. Even if the only reason why there is a punctured equilibrium in the fortress is because I have been brutally butchering babies
EDIT: I just remembered that dwarves can't equip halberds. That might explain why the squads that use them always die.

Pff, I don't hate fun, I just hate werebeasts causing interruptions to the construction of a giant obsidian-cored obelisk or other such "because I can" projects every damn month. It'd be like all those poor beards having a period at once except slightly worse.

I can see how haivng a werebeast fort would be difficult in creating the Because I Can projects I have planned, but at the same time it sounds like fun.

Also, I don't know how she did it, but she did.

Oh, and they're werecrocodiles.

The solution is simple! Drop the baby 4 z levels onto an upright spear.

Yes, but if I do that I won't have an easily trappable werecreature to turn my migrants with.

An entire fortress of werebeasts.
The only problem is that the next full moon will cause a total collapse of the fort, no saving possible. You need to keep one dwarf unchanged and hidden from all the others.
