I've often wondered how it would be if the '9/11' attacks happened on '4/1'...

Just the initial news coverage confusion would have been ... insane.

A project I was working on got a cease&desist letter from the organization that owns the IP we are totally not legitimately used, and it was extremely convincing until you realized it was signed "April Fools".

My first thought was MIT hacking taken up a notch.  That's pretty amazing though.  How did a car even fit inside a classroom?

How on Earth can one not enjoy a day where you are free to bombard your friends and family with an onslaught of terrible jokes, pranks and inconveniences (or perhaps blow them away with one or two really magnificent ones, if you prefer quality over quantity), and then have everything be totally cool the day after?

I mean, If I were to go around planting thumb tacks in peoples' beds or sprinkling fish food into all the icecube trays on any other day, it would just make me an asshole. But on April 1st, it makes me an asshole who's participating in one of mankind's most unique and time-honored traditions, helping to ensure that it lives on for all future generations to enjoy and bemoan. And in my book, that's pretty friggin' awesome.
