Pathfinder; A feral foray.
« on: March 30, 2014, 10:40:35 pm »

So...  I've been tossing this around in my head for a long time, and I'm not remotely ready to actually run it, but...  I've decided to just go for it.  However, I have several issues; most primary being: I'm not familiar with Pathfinder, and I've been building the setting/campaign around 3.5 (only switching to Path because of a friend's recommendation, and I need to learn the material anyway.)  As such, I wouldn't actually be able to run the campaign as it is.  Remuthra has agreed to assist me... to a degree, as he also wants to play.  =|

The game will be ran as Post by Post, as that's the most relaxed environment, which I think is a major requirement for Pen and Paper anything.  It also helps alleviate time issues; I'm GMT-8, and I know we have several people who are GMT, so they'd be eliminated as possible players if I ran it as an mIRC game or Maptools or anything similar.  Which brings me to another point; there won't be Maptools.  My very few forays into Maptools has not been kind to me, so I've somewhat given up on it.  I'm fairly... illiterate when it comes to art; I can do portraiture if I'm looking at something, and that's it.  If I had a Co-GM who was capable of creating maps for the players, that'd be a bonus, but I hope that my storytelling ability is close enough to par to maintain player interest.

I'm looking at 6-8 players.  4 would be ideal, but since I'm recruiting a Co-GM, I hope to be able to handle more.

Edit: Pfft, I get the thread up and forgot to include how to character sheet.  Here.
Edit2: I'm going to try and remember to be in mIRC as often as I can, so if you're looking to get my attention, hopefully that's where I'll be.

I have never played PathFinder, and don't know the rules, and don't have access to books to learn, but, I can volunteer as a cartographer.
If you don't mind rather crude artwork.

Might as well chalk it up to Pathos.
As this point we might as well invoke interpretive dance and call it a day.

Hey, anything's better than what I've got.

Cool, just tell me when I'm needed.

Also, after reading through the rules, I just know someone is going to make a character with an ungodly Will save, just for that spell rebound thing.

If you've been building the campaign around 3.5 and are familiar with 3.5 but not Pathfinder, what was the recommendation from your friend that convinced you?

It is...

Hmm, my first thought was Monk, because I wanted to be different, but apparently they still suck. Gunslinger just straight up sounds silly and out of place, but Cavalier... now that sounds cool.

I'll work on a sheet, but I have a question: Which race do I use favored class benefits from for Cavaliers?

Edit: Another question: What mounts would I have access to?

Alright, questions...

Can I play a Half-orc Troll?

Can I play a cleric anyway?

If you take cleric, I'm going to switch my order to Order of the First Law, defenders of the atheists, just so I have a legitimate in-game grievance with you.

Edit: How many traits do we get?

Everyone's effectively athiest, as there are no gods.
Orcs did not mate with Trolls. They only mated with races that looked better than they did.  Notably there are no Half-Orc (Dwarves).  As spellcasting is banned, a Cleric would be able to Turn Undead and... that's about it.  So no.  No Clericing.

Edit: Negotiator was removed from Pathfinder, so should I just use the DnD 3.5 version?

Alright. What about centaurs?
Also, I'm still playing a cleric anyway :P.

EDIT: I'm assuming lead isn't available either?

What about crystal?

And what about stoneplate?

I think I'll stick with the Order of the Cockatrice, aka, the Order of the Total Dicks, even if you are going to play a cleric.

Also, Tealninja, what sort of equipment do we have access to? Specifically, can I have a saddle?
