I'm just waiting for the first person to post when someone gets murdered by a falling coconut.

*Checks plant list*

Oh wait, that seems to be the only plant to not make the list.

Very well, anyone up for loading catapults with watermelons?

He's mentioned coconuts before though, last july.

Edit: I asked about it in my questions thing I put up on the FoTF.

This is exactly what I wanted to hear, I usually build my forts around agriculture more than mining. I love building max size pig tail farms and I've got a sky farm system for growing whip vines and sun berries.

I wonder if any of these will count as below-ground plants? I'd love it if they were all above ground -- that means we get a new batch of mushrooms to grow in the caves. (Woot woot for Mycena Chlorophos as a light source!)

Time to go research crop rotations

Of all the plants on that list, wouldn't durians make the best catapult ammo?

Neat. It looks like all or mostly edibles for now, and not plants for medicinal purposes. For example, Aloe Vera to soothe burns or witch hazel tree for astringent, or willow trees for Salicylic acid or, dare I say it, a dwarf who likes cannabis eating or (eventually) smoking it when miserable instead of punching other dwarves, pets, or furniture.

The last would probably be best once addiction or other representation of habit forming and dependency is added though. That way if Urist McSmoker doesn't get his cannabis he's in a worse mood for a week or a month or so. Tobacco even more so, and crackdwarves even more than that along with appropriate syndromes or whatnot for withdrawal.

*Ponders whether exporting -green glass crackpipe- to the elves should make me feel bad. It's probably along the same lines as cinnabar or lead mugs.

I notice he added only one entry for each species.  So no broccoli, cauliflower, kale, brussels sprouts, or kohlrabi, just Cabbage.

Yay, barley is in! Single malt whiskey now possible, along with many beer varieties.

The entire content consists of senseless murder, a pile of faceless naked women and zero regard for human life in general, all in the service of the protagonist's base impulses. It is clearly a cry for help from a neglected, self absorbed and disempowered juvenile badly in need of affectionate guidance. What a sad, sad display.

For what I've understood, these don't replace old ones. I guess many of these plants will be farmable and all of them will appear as a shrubs, just like plants right now.

I was expecting more people to be excited about this. The best plant EVER is now in the game. Dwarf Fortress is unofficially in beta.

Avocados are going to be used for throwing to kill gobbos, not for chips.

Speaking of which...

Passionfruit: check
Oranges: check
Apples: check
Grapefruits (whole and segmented): missing
Pomegranates: check
Greengages: missing
Grapes: check
Lemons: missing (though there are 4 different types of limes...)
Plums: check
Mangoes (in syrup): only as trees (don't know if he'll add them as fruit)
Cherries: check
Bananas: check
Raspberries: check

So it looks like we won't be able to properly train our dwarves in self defense...

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

It lacks Hop though we have though hemp which is its Closest relative. [edit] Hop makes also sleepy which could be a medical use for it in the game [/edit]

It would be interesting thing to mod in that burning cannabis would spread smoke that makes dwarfs and enemies stoned and act randomly. Cannabis needs to be weaponized.

Then you get cities like Paris where you should basically just kill yourself already.

You won’t have to think anymore: it’ll be just like having fun!
