Turn 3: Shots Fired

"N-no! I... I will help fight." Selina shakes her head. She couldn't give up now. She walks forward to get to the frontline, crossbow ready. She couldn't turn back now.
[4] You manage to slowly climb the stairs to the top of the wall, and don't even vomit any more when you see what's on the other side!

A handful of humanoids with dark red skin are running straight towards where you are on the wall. They don't look like soldier demons, and they've got what looks like black weapons. One of them even looks like it's wearing armor, something you've heard of demons doing only occasionally.

[3+3] vs [5+3]
[6+3] vs [1+3]
[6+3] vs [2+3]
[5+3] vs [5+3]
[4+3] vs [4+3]

The archers fire on them, with two clean hits. You can hear them roaring in response, likely from anger more than pain. They seem to stumble a bit, but ultimately keep coming.

[6+1] vs [5+3] You add your own bolt to the mix, but your target smoothly moves its head to the side.

[5+1-1] The captain mutters an expletive and gives an odd whistle. You can tell it's some kind of sound magic, but it feels more like a signal than a weapon.

+1 Crossbows

((I did not mean to ask for a -3 spell. That could have been bad.))

Give myself a novice level bone durability enhancement.
[1+1-1] You attempt to strengthen your bones. Needless to say, now your bones hurt.

[4] The demons keep zigzagging around out there. You get the feeling they're not entirely sure they want to attack... which is pretty suspicious for most demons.

-2 HP

Thinking aloud, Karla says, "Hmm... Perhaps an entire crowd was a bit ambitious..."

Find the active combat area and cast novice level prayer over friendly combatants.
[3] You reach a squad on the Temple District walls and look around. No sign of the enemy here...

[5] You keep moving, attempting to find them, when you notice it. A bush moving slightly. It stops you in your tracks when you realize there's at least ten of them shuffling towards the walls. There's no squad right here either.

Do an apprentice fatigue restoring spell on myself.
[3+2-2] You feel better. Not entirely better, but you're breathing only slightly harder than normal.

[1] You wait down at the base of the walls. (See Sarrak's turn)

"Well, well... It seems that quite an interesting experience awaits..."

Korrak looked around - only to realize that most soldiers are armed with longbows.

"Most convenient. Perhaps, I should try to use one too?"

Looking as a man who totally knows what he is doing, seise a bow and some arrows to shoot at enemies (in their direction, at least).
[3] vs [2] You clumsily grab a bow from a surprised archer, who just sort of lets go after a moment of awkward fumbling. The captain exclaims loudly and orders you to give that back, but is too busy drawing his own bow to do anything about it.

[3-1] vs [4+3] You arrow falls short. Well. Clearly a mistake anyone could make.

[4+3] vs [4+3]
[2+3] vs [4+3]
[6+3] vs [2+3]
[6+3] vs [6+3]

There, see? All the others missed their shots as well, except for one who scored a solid hit, prompting a cry of rage from his target. Also that one had to do a spiraling midair flip to avoid the one coming at it.

[3] Hm, speaking of which... demons don't usually care that they've been wounded. This is probably a higher form than usual. Dark red skinned humanoids, some of them carrying black weapons, one of them armored? Can't recall knowing about any demons like that.

Find a safe place to put the loot.
[3] Safe place, safe place, safe place... uh... on a roof! Yeah, nobody's gonna look on top of a roof, unless it's one of those roofs that's also a patio, which most of them probably are. Erm, well, nobody's likely to go for a stroll anytime soon, right?

Well, whatever, just gotta get on top of a multi-story roof. Hrm... this is a good one. Three stories, plenty of jutting handholds, looks like it's made of wood and stucco or something? Yeah, your stuff would probably be pretty safe up there... if you can find a way to reach it.

Panicking at finding herself alone with the enemy approaching Karla yells out, "They're approaching this wall! Help! There's no way I can handle ten of these things by myself!"

Find a nearby squad I can draw over here. Failing that prepare myself for their approach.

Olivier sighed. He wasn't really a great shot with a bow, and he wasn't sure if he could reliably hit a demon at that range with a spell.. Of which, he didn't have a lot of options for damaging. Still, he might as well try.

Cast a novice level meta-magic laser barrage at the demon group. The desired effect is to suppress, not damage.

"Interesting, interesting...", - muttered necromancer while observing the battlefield. - "You can have it back, it's in good condition after all."

With this, he offered longbow back to his owner.

Try to analyze what demons actually try to do here.

Turn 4: Plans

It starts!

Heal myself with a novice level spell.
[5+1-1] You feel refreshed and restored. Healthy enough to go get stabbed!

Healed to full
+2 Restoration

[2] The demons look like they're finally about to close on the walls.

Panicking at finding herself alone with the enemy approaching Karla yells out, "They're approaching this wall! Help! There's no way I can handle ten of these things by myself!"

Find a nearby squad I can draw over here. Failing that prepare myself for their approach.
[5] You shout rather loudly, which is answered by a great deal of panicked expletives from nearby squads, and a moment later by even a shrill horn. They begin dashing towards your position, while the bushes toss themselves aside to reveal some dark red humanoid demons, which begin immediately charging the wall.

Everyone should arrive in just a moment.

Selina gulps but continues to fire upon the demons, trying desperately to hold them off for now.
[5+1] vs [3+3] Your target jerks its head to the side at the last instant, taking the faintest of grazing shots on its left cheek.
[3+3] vs [5+3]
[2+3] vs [1+3]
[2+3] vs [2+3]
[4+3] vs [2+3]
[6+3] vs [4+3]

Thee of them, including one of the already injured ones, take grazing hits from the archers. Unfortunately one of them is wearing black armor, which the bolt mostly clatters off of.

[2] One of them unfurls a grappling hook on a chain, whirls it around, and launches it short. The rest curse, and one draws back a longbow.

[1+6] vs [5+1+1] An archer gives a panicked expletive as he ducks behind the wall, a meter-long arrow trailing sparks along the edge as it grates past.

[2+1-1] The captain gives another whistle, but it comes out kind of warbly and low. You don't think she was trying to do that.

+2 Crossbows

Enemies:
Demon 1 10/10
Demon 2 5/10
Bow Demon 5/10
Hook Demon 8/10
Armored Demon 11/12; 6/6 Slash, 3/4 Pierce, 2/2 Bludgeon, 4/4 Necro

Olivier sighed. He wasn't really a great shot with a bow, and he wasn't sure if he could reliably hit a demon at that range with a spell.. Of which, he didn't have a lot of options for damaging. Still, he might as well try.

Cast a novice level meta-magic laser barrage at the demon group. The desired effect is to suppress, not damage.
[1][1+1-1] Deciding that the armored one is probably the most dangerous, you fire a shield of scintillating light at it. It sticks to and protects it. That was not the original plan.

(See Sarrak's turn)

"Interesting, interesting...", - muttered necromancer while observing the battlefield. - "You can have it back, it's in good condition after all."

With this, he offered longbow back to his owner.

Try to analyze what demons actually try to do here.
[1] Clearly they're mindless brutes with no plan beyond rushing the walls and being destroyed, like all their brainless ilk. You hand the bow back to the archer.

[3+3] vs [3+3]
[3+3] vs [2+3]
[3+3] vs [5+3]
[3+3] vs [3+3]
[5+3] vs [4+3]

The archers mostly miss, with one nicking a demon and one nicking a demon's armor.

[1] One of them pulls out a... net, maybe? It promptly gets tangled in it, whatever it is.

[2] Spice frowns and bobs her head around, as though trying to get a better view.

Enemies:
Demon 1 10/10
Demon 2 9/10
Bow Demon 10/10
Botch Demon 6/10
Armored Demon 12/12; 6/6 Slash, 3/4 Pierce, 2/2 Bludgeon, 4/4 Necro

"Tsk... So much for a siege. Just a horde of mindless animals, after all..."

Wait for them to actually begin scaling the wall. Prevent them from it by hacking pieces from their siege equipment.

((We can start bringing players from the waitlist after the end of the siege, I suppose))

Olivier sighed, and mentally slapped himself. He wondered how to solve with that, but turned his attention away, torwards the other demons. Petting song which was still resting on his shoulder, he gave a little nod. "Song.. I think its time we see what your energy can do."

Use some of songs energy offensively, with an apprentice level water magic spell.

Turn 5: Wheeeeee!

Humm. I think I'll refrain from trying to punch them.

Make a sword-wielding guard stronger with a novice level spell.
[5+1-1] The guard thanks you for making him feel stronger.

[5] ...those demons look an awful lot like they're dancing around to keep you distracted from their actual assaults elsewhere.

+2 Restoration
Now Apprentice Restoration Mage

[6-2+1] Olivier nails the bow demon in the eyes with a splash of very waterlike but still glowing energy from Song, hopefully disrupting any attempts at attacking it may have made.

[3+3] vs [3+3]
[2+3] vs [5+3]
[6+3] vs [2+3]
[4+3] vs [2+3]
[3+3] vs [6+3]

The demon with the bow takes a major hit; the tangled demon gets nicked again. The armored one snatches the arrow out of the air and shatters it with one hand in a show of malicious contempt.

[2] The tangle demon flails around a bit.

[3+1-1] Spice continues to frown at the demons. Tor grunts impatiently, axe between his crossed arms.

Olivier: +3 Water Magic

Selina gulps, getting an idea but not sure if it would work. She quickly places her hands on the stone parapet and attempts to create a stone-work creature or Golem to combat the demons in melee.
[4+1-2] You mold a chunk of the parapet into a very ball-like golem large enough to serve as a stool.

Golem
2/2 HP
 2/2 Physical
+0 Dodge
Resist 1 Physical
+0 Attack (Bludgeoning)

[3+3] vs [2+3]
[2+3] vs [5+3]
[3+3] vs [5+3]
[4+3] vs [5+3]
[3+3] vs [5+3]

One demon is nicked by an archer, but the rest weave in a disturbingly synchronized motion out of the remainder of the volley.

[1] The demon with the hook reels it back and slaps it into the back of the head of a demon ahead of him. The struck demon turns and snarls.

[6+6] vs [1+1+1] One of the archers is hurled off the parapet by a meter-long arrow.

+2 Earth Magic

Look for anything I can throw at the demons, or a ranged weapon of a less improvised sort.
[5] One of the captains hurls you a leather case of silvered throwing knives with alarming precision.

[4-1+4] vs [2+3] You immediately draw one and hurl it at the closest demon. It leaves a shallow but definite wound across its shoulder, and it screams in rage at you in response.

+1 Throwing

[6+3] vs [2+3]
[5+3] vs [5+3]
[3+3] vs [4+3]
[3+3] vs [2+3]
[6+3] vs [1+3]

Demon 1A 4/10
Demon 2A 10/10
Bow Demon A 10/10
Chain Demon A 9/10
Armored Demon A 10/12; 6/6 Slash, 1/4 Pierce, 2/2 Bludgeon, 4/4 Necro

[5+3] vs [5+3]
[1+3] vs [4+3]
[4+3] vs [5+3]
[5+3] vs [5+3]
[1+3] vs [1+3]

Demon 1B 10/10
Demon 2B 10/10
Bow Demon B 10/10
Chain Demon B 10/10
Armored Demon B 12/12; 6/6 Slash, 4/4 Pierce, 2/2 Bludgeon, 4/4 Necro

The squad whose leader threw you the knives arrives and scores a few hits. The squad coming from the other side misses.

[4][4] Two of the demons unfurl chains, swing them around, and launch them onto the walls. Grappling hooks on the ends grasp the stone cleanly.

[6][6] A demon grabs each chain and swings hand-over-hand right up to the walls, whereupon they grab the parapets and realize they're trapped beneath the hook and chain.

[5+6] vs [2+1+1]
[6+6] vs [3+1+1]

Two demons unfurl bows, and an archer from each squad is bodily hurled from the walls from the force of the impact.

[6] You hear a trumpet and a bird chirp, see a flash of light from the knife tosser and a pink streamer in the air for some reason, and feel a faint vibration in your feet.

Experiment with the odd magical lantern.
[1] You... the glow... must...

[4] You scream in pain as your fingers are burned by some kind of infernal heat. You manage to pull them away, but remain feeling dazed and strange.
