So quick check: I'm still working on items, and am coming to the conclusion that the more difficulty I have with them, the more reckless and unreasonable I should resort to making them. Good idea Y/N?
Great idea, obviously. How could handing a group like this powerful magical items possibly go wrong?

You might only use them for good. :(

Prologue (1/2): What A Nice Day

Ah, Whitekeep. Whether a permanent resident or grudgingly here on an errand, you have to admit that it's a big place. Most people find it nice as well, and it's certainly interesting.

Still, no sense daydreaming. You've a day to get on with.

Vazastar (Asilidae)
Ah, what a beautiful day, don't you think? Yes, yes, of course you do... Just because everyone keeps shying away from you and a concerned-looking member of the White Guard stops by to talk to you every half hour, making sure you're aware there's no summoning allowed or planned, that you're doing okay and everything's happy and fine, is certainly no reason today wouldn't be a fine day, yes.

Speaking of which, you've got some things you might want to do. Magister Milvrion, a mage currently located in the Temple District, wanted to have food with you sometime to discuss matters extraplanar. You've heard a rumor that someone in the Market District- a peddler named Morikon or Korimo or somesuch- has found something not meant for mortal eyes. And a little girl in a black robe recently handed you a note, tersely indicating that one Tor of the Demonforge, Craftsman's District, wanted to speak with you.

Or, of course, you could do something completely different. You pat yourself down while considering, remembering your more unusual possessions.

Torgjer (Nirur)
Hmph. Another day surrounded by weaklings. Everyone here is so soft... they usually avert their eyes immediately upon noticing you scowling at them. The guards tend to scowl at you to, as though they were anything but cloth puppets meant to look nice. Someday you'll show them the face of true power...

But that's someday. In the meantime, you've got some things you might want to do. Some healer named Charity- you checked, that's supposedly her name- wants to talk to you about something in the Temple District. You've heard about some jackanape bragging in the Market District about how tough he is. Someone named "S" from the Docks District claims to have information you will absolutely want at a price you can absolutely afford.

Or, of course, you could do something completely different. You pat yourself down while considering, remembering your more unusual possessions.
Spoiler: Items (click to show/hide)

Cinaedica (Errol)
Oh, Whitekeep. How its white walls illuminate your soft skin. How its streets channel dramatic winds through your hair. How its grandeur makes you sigh longingly for the old glories of your house. A nearby woman makes that sort of longing moan that they and some men are prone to from time to time.

Oh, but there are some things you might want to do. A Lady Leafbalm in the Temple District apparently has need of someone with your talents. Keruta of Wellspring, a healer currently in the Docks District, supposedly wanted to speak with you. A passing, laughing drunk mentioned that there's some kind of dance competition in the Market District.

Or, of course, you could do something completely different. You pat yourself down while considering, remembering your more unusual possessions.
Spoiler: Items (click to show/hide)

Selina (RangerCado)
Oh, Whitekeep... it's a bit intimidating, actually. All the buildings are so large, and the walls especially... plus every woman here is better endowed than you are. Oh, there's one you're probably at least close to... she's a lot taller than you and looks like some kind of fancy swordswinging noble, though.

Oh, but you have some things you might want to do. A nice girl named Kurimo invited you to come talk to her about making friends in the Market District. A mage named Magister Milvrion in the Temple District wanted to talk to you about summoning. You've heard someone named Flick has bunnies- real live ones- for sale in the Docks District.

Or, of course, you could do something completely different. You pat yourself down while considering, remembering your more unusual possessions.
Spoiler: Items (click to show/hide)

Olivier (Ochita)
Whitekeep... seems rather dull without anyone to defend. You know battle is nothing to hope for, but still... attacking demons gives you a sense of purpose, horrible as it is to say. You know you're not the only one, though from the looks of it you might be the only one here- everyone seems fairly cheerful, or at least not unhappy.

Still, you might have some things to take care of. You've heard there's some experienced demon hunters meeting at the Demonskull Inn in the Market District. A woman named Thorn is apparently looking for a healer of Oro in the Temple District. A Vindil of Vindil's Fine Glassworks in the Craftsman's District is apparently dying to get a chance to talk to you about your... companion.

Or, of course, you could do something completely different. You pat yourself down while considering, remembering your more unusual possessions.
Spoiler: Items (click to show/hide)

Varden (Chink)
Pfft, Whitekeep. Such a quivering collection of useless cowards. Look at how they cower before you! It's rather casual cowering, you'll grant, but cowering nonetheless. None of them have the spine to face you in a battle of magical power. Well, none of the ones you plan to run into today. Those worthless fools are lucky cheaters you let win because the sun was in your eyes anyway.

Ah yes, but you doubtlessly have some important things you might or might not want to do today. You've heard rumors that a Magifaffer Melon or whatever in the Temple District is working on something involving planar travel. Some fool in the Market District is apparently going on about how tough he is. Apparently someone who won't even give their name has been talking trash on you in the Docks District.

Or, of course, you could do something completely different. You pat yourself down while considering, remembering your more unusual possessions.
Spoiler: Items (click to show/hide)

Al (Sarrak)
Hmph, Whitekeep. Bunch of weak-minded fools bumbling through the world as best they can. Moderately useful, if determined to prevent any learning from occurring within their borders. Someday you'll show these simpletons what true power really is...

But that's someday. In the meantime, you have some things you might want to do. Someone calling themselves "S" in the Docks District has assured you they have need of your services and can pay you well for them. A woman from the Temple District is offering you a future corpse or other favor if you'll take the fall for casually maiming a child. Tor, the Craftsman's District blacksmith, sent his apprentice to tell you that he wanted to speak with you about your Soul Reaper.

Or, of course, you could do something completely different. You pat yourself down while considering, remembering your more unusual possessions.
Spoiler: Items (click to show/hide)

Karla (Samarkand)
Beautiful day out. Would be more beautiful if you had some metals to work with, and a shop to do it in, but that's true of all days. Most of the people in Whitekeep are pretty friendly, and itemcrafters are certainly popular among the guards... but that's more true of generous itemcrafters with reliable equipment to donate.

Still, you might have some things you want to do. A woman named Thorn in the Temple District may actually want to commission you for something. Some experienced demon hunters are supposedly gathering at the Demonskull Inn in the Market District. You've heard that Tor, a blacksmith in the Craftsman's District with a reputation for being unorthodox, had some choice words to say about you and your probable work.

Or, of course, you could do something completely different. You pat yourself down while considering, remembering your more unusual possessions.
Spoiler: Items (click to show/hide)

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
You all start with 1d4d10 gold coins. White refers to white square ceramic tokens with lesser metal corners, minted by Whitekeep in an effort to keep precious metals safe from the dangers of the Outlands. Their use is somewhat controversial, with people friendlier to Whitekeep generally being more open to their use and likely to have them.

Gold is very valuable. Copper or silver is more often used for day to day transactions, and you can be assumed to have whatever denominations you need for a clean transaction.

Korrak was walking through the town, absent-mindedly humming ritualistic mantra of dominance over spirits in a long-forgotten untlgar tongue. Not quite as effective as you'd expect it to be, mantra still helped to focus with its rhythmic passes.

"What to do?"

Shielding eyes from the sun, necromancer slowly observed happy crowd. No, that's certainly won't do. Here, inside Whitekeep, with all its various rules and superstitions, were too much people for his liking. Too much temptation after deserted Outlands, where one can longer for a corpse for entire decades... Thankfully, his reason kept emotions at bay. For now. He might be a necromancer of superior powers, but they won't do him much favor in ensuing battle against the whole city.

"Speaking of this, wasn't there an opportunity to receive corpse for free? Hm..."

Al weighted his options and signed. Once again, it proved to be too much of a temptation to try. Working opportunity sounded pretty hollow... Well, there was still that invitation from Tor, eh? Maybe discussion about necromancy and smithing unique fusion could sate his intellectual appetites for some time...

Visit Demonforge to discuss Soul Reaper with blacksmith.

Olivier sighed, as he sat down on a stone bench nearby to think about his options. While the prospect of going out with a group of demon hunters to presumably hunt demons held a fair amount of attraction, he stole a glance at song, which was snoozing around his shoulders, occasionally letting out a soft, short note.
"I can imagine that the demon hunters can wait for a little bit, for now I think a trip to the glassworks may be in order."
As he got up, he scratched Song's chin, eliciting a 'Pweep' noise. Content with the day, for now, he heads towards Vindil's glassworks, no doubt walking past several insane mages and other eccentric people. Such is life when you have demons everywhere else.

Visit Vindil's glassworks to find out more about song.

((What a nice day it is turning out to be. I am sure this afternoon will be just as nice!
Ochita's armor is just brokenly powerful.))

"Innkeep! Your meal was acceptable! The bread was fresh!" Social pleasantries taken care of, Torgjer rose and left the building. The healer with a weak name likely wanted to discuss his art. Not having anything more pressing to do (the braggart would still be there when he got bored, and he had no interest in a gossip peddler), he may as well see if she had any useful information.

Visit charity.

Aww, how nice. A message from a new friend. So good of that sweetling to deliver it to me.
Purchase a candy of some sort for the messenger girl in case I run into her. Go visit Tor.

((How much could I sell the Prism Badge for, and how much could I sell the Collar of Coins for, assuming I can get it off?))

Welp, may as well go and visit that idiot in the marketplace, since I was planning on heading there anyways.

Head down to the marketplace and check the selection of shops selling magical equipment.

Kaka looked longingly at her ring. It seemed to beg to be used and she would have been happy to oblige it. Her fingers itched to be working metal... But she didn't have any metal, and acquiring metal required either gold, or a trip outside the city. Even though traveling with demon hunters to discover exotic metals sounded like a dream come true, she felt ill equipped to survive such a trip. She'd feel much safer with some armor forged by her own hands.

The problem with smithing though is that making money required investing money, and Karla didn't have much to invest. That noisy smith, Tor, would be interesting to work with, but he might not be the most reliable to work with. Thorn promise to be the more reliable patron. Besides, building reputation in the temple district might bring her closer to priests of Ayum.

Go to the Temple District and seek out Thorn.

That is indeed a rather long waitlist.  How do you decide who gets chosen from it?

If it is first come first serve, it might not be worth it to join.

I believe I'll just be randomly shuffling them into a set order. Then I suppose additional people will be added to the end of it.

Cinaedica took one more moment to breathe in the air of Whitekeep. What a gentle, salty air... what a beautiful atmosphere. Should he ever meet the architects of this town, he'd have to give them his regards. This town, its great, untainted blue ocean, these white beaches... they smelled like home. Well, the closest to it in this tainted world. One day, long ago, maybe sometime after the invasion... his memory of those day long past was hazy... he had resolved to sail across this ocean. As soon as he had fulfilled his other obligation - making the name Ytrakariem resound through this world once more.

He contemplated his options while running a hand through his luscious, windswept hair, absentmindedly reaching for his comb. As much as he'd have liked to watch the dance competition - he had made a rule to not participate in contests like these, for surely someone whose elegance was in a league of its own shouldn't dominate his lessers time and time again - helping a Lady surely was the noblest cause of all those that laid before him... and also, probably the most lucrative. To Cinaedica's great dismay, his wallet was running dangerously empty as it was so often prone to do - a gracious and elegant life didn't come for cheap...

The air around him sparkled for just a moment as he strode off to his goal.

Get to yon Lady Leafbalm and listen to what she has to say!

((AH! Sorry! Didn't realize this started!))

Selina sighs contently as she wanders around Whitekeep. Despite the dangers outside, inside the walls you could always find something to admire. And occasionally you got to talk to interesting people! Maybe that girl Kirimo was actually interested in things she was too? Although... no, she had asked her to come and see her and her friends. It was going to be fine.

Selina smiles to herself a bit as she goes to the Market District to find Kirimo!
