?slightly? Modified Standard RTD rules, I am starting with a limit of six.

The land is ripping itself apart. Earthquakes and Volcanic Eruptions are frequent, groups of bandits and rouges have all set up their own little fiefdoms. The Feudal Families are warring amongst themselves, each seeking to unite the land under their rule.

  Yet, for all this, those who live in the stable regions lived in peace for many ages. The wars, the struggles for survival were all but whispers, faint rumours from beyond the horizon. The earthquakes were but tremors, the eruptions noticed only by the poorer yield on the fields and dismal weather. And it still would be, if not for one invention, a mix of Sulphur, Charcoal, and Potassium Nitrate.

  Gunpowder! A mere powder, which reacts to flame with extraordinary force. How we eagerly welcomed it, how we were rewarded for harnessing its power. With it, a man can become as dangerous as a Samurai, can travel vast distances in haste. Even flight is within our grasp. But the cost... the world is no longer tearing itself apart. We became dependant on the Unstable Regions for Sulphur, and they in turn looked upon our quiet lives in bitterness and hatred. They called for arms, seeking a life they hadn't known existed. Wars between The Families are approaching a breaking point, as each faction deals with new fighting from within its borders.

  What can one do in such a era? Will they join in the fighting, seeking both spoils and glory?

  Or will they sow fear and reap in stolen riches, joining the lawless bands which now rule?

  Perhaps they will seek out their own path, blazing a trail for others to follow.


 Whatever path YOU may take, the world will not forget your actions. Welcome, travellers, to The Lands of the Feudal Lords.

Name: Alice

Age: 15

Desc: A short, perpetually filthy brunette, Alice grew up abandoned in the streets of a major city.  Unable to fight with her wiry frame, making her first crossbow was more a matter of survival than choice. Many years later, she is a skilled marksman and woodworker, though her position in society has largely remained unchanged.

Abilities:
Squirrelly: years of prowling places she shouldn't be has given her a mind and body suited for escaping bad situations unharmed. Her small and athletic body allows her to fit through places others can't, climb walls, and outpace others. in a true scrap, she can be hard to actually get any blows on. (I count this as one skill because in a world of gunpowder, being hard to hit in fist fights and increased maneuverability are of limited use.)

Crossbow Marksman: years of shooting rats and crows for sustenance have given Alice a dead shot with one of her crossbows, but other weapons are completely alien to her.

Carpenter:  one can't spend such a large amount of time working with wood and not pick up a few tricks along the way.  Though she isn't the best at building things besides crossbows or whittling arrows, she can manage.

Equipment: Well-Made, Quick-Loading Crossbow (regular arrows and exploding gunpowder arrows), whittling knife

Armor: Light

 

Spoiler: Tips and Fair Warnings (click to show/hide)

When creating your character, keep in mind that gunpowder is common enough that it is used by civilians for transportation and power generation. Some armour is going to have a definite use.

 When you come up with a character, be aware that I reserve the right to balance things to make it fair on other players. This includes buffing up and/or toning down characters.

  Also, if you don't post for four turns without letting me know why before those turns are up, I will Kick them off the team (and probably NPC them at some point.)

  Samurai, Ronin, and Ninjas are fair game. However, they are most effective against highly armoured opponents, as they can outmaneuver them more easily. They're also more stealthy. Will get a modifier on their roll on appropriate occasions.

  'Juggernauts' are not only fair game, but commonly seen in the forces of armies and rouges alike. They are slower and less mobile, but they have a lot more health and are able to inflict much more damage. Will get modifiers on their roll as appropriate.

  More tips and fair warnings to come as appropriate. Good luck!

Cold Eyes-Has a chance of causing the target to hesitate, missing an action. Can only be used SUCESSFULLY once every 5 turns, and is only sucessful on a five.

Others are merely men, but he is a MAN! _{Side affects of being a MAN may include action movie poses, impeded Austrian accents, and excessive sweat. Do not try to be a MAN while pregnant or nursing. Consult your MANACOLOGIST to see how being a MAN might affect you.}
Abilities/Skills:

Take it like a MAN!- Joe's incredible resolve allows him to shrug off wounds which would kill or maim lesser men. He is therefore rather resistant to damage, even without armor.
CHAAARGE!- Working himself into a rage, Joe can MANCHARGE blindly forward at fast speeds, knocking aside whatever gets in his way.
MANSTRENGTH!- Joe's MANLINESS gives him incredible strength. This is mostly used to lift things or punch really hard.

Arms: Heavy Explosive Jars, Heavy Dragonheart Rifle with various ammo[Smoothbore,less accurate but packs a punch], Iron Fists with flint and steel impact activated explosive charges.

Armour: MANLY JUGGERNAUT PLATING! (Ultra Heavy)

Age: 26

Description: Willard's a fit and wiry young man brown hair and eyes, whose most defining features are his missing left hand and his ever so slightly crooked smile, which he seems to have on his face no matter what the situation may be.

Abilities/Skills:

Optimism: Willard can count the number of times he's ever gotten really upset on one hand. Hell, he can do it on his missing left hand. He's so goddamned upbeat that he can even ignore crippling injuries for a short period of time, although in the long run they hurt him just as badly as they would anyone else. Is less likely to experience shellshock, and can ignore otherwise crippling injuries for a time.

Silver Tongue: When you've only got one hand, reloading's a real pain in the ass. Fortunately, Willard's learned that a clever lie and a smile can be just as good as a gun at times, and even when someone's beyond negotiating with, he can swear at them for as long as it takes for him to load another bullet and settle things by force.

Arms: A sawed-off shotgun [Smoothbore] and a sack of dynamite Refined Demolition Gunpowder for when things get tough.

Armour: Light

Name: Alexander McDougall

Age: 25

Description: Father and mother were sulphur miners, killed in an earthquake. Left parentless and penniless, he turned to a life of crime and mercenary work to support himself. Eventually paid off his dues, and he now stands a free man with a new identity, but he has the shadow of his old life behind him.

Abilities/Skills:

Experienced: Knows how to handle crazy situations, as he's been in plenty of them. He also knows how to handle his way around weapons, and has a stack of black market connections.
More likely to make unsavoury connections, but at the cost of being wanted by people in high places. Watch out for attentive militias!

Berserker: In a rage, his endurance and strength is inhuman, allowing him to send his favoured hammer flying into his enemies quickly and mercilessly. Will fall back to this mode if an innocent woman or a friend is under attack. +1 to all rolls for three turns, two turns to recharge.

Pickpocket: His life of destitution and criminal tendencies has given him the experience to pick the pockets of random passers by.

Arms: Shoulder mounted clockwork machine gun (SMCM) with a shitton of ammo, trusty explosive sledgehammer, electrical chakra powder charges (think powder charges that start off an arc of electricity).

Armour: Ultra heavy (is this comparable to like wearing a massive armor suit?)(Think inch thick slabs. Since their armour is based around RL ceramic armour,  it isn't as heavy as you'd think)
