Fire Emblem Child board?
« on: March 26, 2014, 01:35:34 am »

Hey guys I was thinking about the success of Einsteinian roulette getting a board of it's own, and FEoF seems to take up a lot of space on the front page.

What are people's thoughts on this?

Yeah, he's a banned spammer. Normally we'd delete this thread too, but people were having too much fun with it by the time we got here.

I don't think it an idea, yet. Yes there a lot, but, one, they are by different people unlike Einsteinian roulette and two, it just a...fad? doesn't sound like the right word, but it not going to get bigger and bigger like RTD because there a lot of work one has to do.

I don't think it need one, but that may change in the future. I would be suprized if it did need one in the future, but it not impossible.

I think it would be worth a consideration, so I am open to the idea. I certainly wouldn't mind it necessarily, since we do have a fairly large amount of threads.

The idea makes sense.

There is ~6 different fire emblem games going on, each has a OOC and an IC. That's twelve threads that get updated regualrly and those clog up the front page of FG&RP.

I'm all for it.

At first it seemed unnecessary because EinstenianRoulette is all connected, and the only real connection between the FEF games is that it's always the same guys playing it :P
But if it's better for all of you and not just the FEF guys I'm all for it.

I honestly think that at some point FEF will drop off in popularity and any board we then have made will be a dead board.

This is what I was going for(and failed completely) in my post.

This seems probable. I mean, a subforum will probably draw new players to the system, but...not many, not for long.

Although now that you mention it...there are a lot of Fire Emblem games.

I think it's unnecessary, partly because Toady has better things to do than create new sub-boards and reorganize the forum layout again, but also because of Powder Miner's point.

All arguments against could also be easily - possibly more easily - be applied to ER, considering all of them are run by one guy. How long would it take that board to die if Piecewise dropped off the net? Surely it can't take that long to make a new subboard.

ER needed room to expand, FEF really doesn't.

Also, ER has dozens of players, with more pouring in in the middle of the most boring mission in ER history. Count up all the users who are in all the active FEF games.

Key word here being if. Other than Haspen, who's probably in the planning stages for FEF 14: Sharknado of Blood by now, nobody else is particularly likely to make FEF a committed project in the way that ER is. Even if Praefectus or BMM42 aren't eaten by grues, how long before they get burnt out, or how many chapters do they have planned? Do they plan to run sequels? There was a time when we had a good number of D&D games running on the board too; a lot of the players and GMs are still around, but it's just not as much of a thing anymore.

ER needed room to expand, FEF really doesn't.
Plus this. A lot of the ER subforum was for piecewise's convenience, not board organization.

FEF 14: Sharknado of Blood
Pardon me, I need to brainstorm what sort of story this would be.
