As a theodolite, I assert Old White Bearded-ness by association.

I'm also currently halfway through George Bernard Shaw's Man and Superman, so there's that. It's quite the read.

Surely the ancient spirit of chaos and disharmony has a place in here.
Tea,chaps ?
Quite so, old boy. There's nothing I like better than tea and scones with an old friend while I watch the world burn...

...the hell off my lawn.

on that note, I actually met someone like this, minus the old age and beard. He lived in the suburbs... and actually put a "No Trespassing" sign up in the middle of his yard, which of course the local kids completely ignored. He wasn't happy with the results. He practically worshiped his grass. Hank Hill from "Over the Hill"? Yeah, that's him in a nutshell - at least as far as his lawn went. Freaked out when kids tramped across his lawn on Halloween, even - comical sight. I'll see if I can't dredge up a picture of the place tomorrow.

As per the thread's rules, I'll have to ask you gentlemen to beard up or get off our lawn.

Now for some "back in my day" jokes. Just because.

Back in my day, we didn't have avatars. And people still knew we were grumpy old men.
Back in my day, smoking gave you a measure of respect. Now it gives you cancer.
Back in my day, nobody went to college, and we still had a lower unemployment rate.
Back in my day, we called them cannibals, not zombies.
Back in my day, the bathroom was used as a bathroom, not as a photo shoot locale.
Back in my day, people understood what Sci-Fi meant.
Back in my day, obesity was a sign of royalty.
Back in my day, we didn't call him Obama. We called him Lucifer.
Back in my day, there were no gun protests picketing my house when I shot someone for not getting off my lawn.

Maybe we should make our own Ancient and Honorable Society of Eldritch Abominations?

Back in MY day we didn't have the Internet. You would have to go to your friend's house and tell him to activate his computer, and plug a wire into the socket corresponding to your own home. Then return home and plug a wire into the socket corresponding to his home. Then you would each shout "ONE" or perhaps "ZERO" into the wire very quickly and the other man would write it down.

You ... couldn't really say anything besides ONE or ZERO.

You have political parties. Lobbying the government is an integral part of being old.

So is lobbying to a private or imaginary organization that you think probably works the same way the government does. "I hate how expensive hearing aid batteries are! I'm going to send an angry letter to this pickle company using my tablet."

"Uh what is Grampa doing with that Lite Brite?"
