Oh my. You will have problems if your Pokémon get poisoned so easily. Best wait on a full run through the woods until either you can afford a second Antidote or you have full confidence in your abilities.

I cannot wait to see what you catch in Viridian though. Who knows! It might just be a winner.

I healed up, and then headed back west - it's not like I could trust anything that jerk could say. This time, though, he was telling the truth - the guard wouldn't let me pass without the boulderbadge from Pewter City. So I guess I need to go there, and then head back? At the very least, I managed to nab some dollars from jerk-faces backpack while he was busy crying over his stupid leaf lizard, so I had enough to afford some more antidotes now. Viridian Forest, here I come!

After that, we fought a bunch more random monsters in the tall grass for a bit searching for the items that seemed to litter the forest floor. Lazy Dio learned Quick Attack, and NOVLAIKE forgot tail whip in favour of water gun, getting poisoned in the process. Luckily, we were able to get back to the pokecenter without such a close call this time. (7hp to spare)

We then returned to the forest, and NOVLAIKE managed to get poisoned again in the very first battle. And I have no intent of using my now impressive count of TWO antidotes this soon. Actually, scratch that - an antidote was lying on the ground, so we're up to three now. Third times the charm, let's push through this time...

Well, looks like this is the team I'll be fighting the Pewter City Gym with, I guess... But which one of you wants to land the killing blow and earn eternal fame as the pokemon that took down a gym leader, and the luxury retirement life that comes with it? I mean, obviously I'm sure you all want to stay with me and risk certain death from day after day of grueling battle, but-

Also I'm assuming that when he comes back to defeat the final four hell need to undergo an even more epic montage to catch up from the low level hell have. Unless you support shoving him into daycare(fair enough I say if he retired for a while I'm sure he should be at least a stronger.

Rattata would unfortunately get himself killed quickly. Rats are weak against rocks. Unless it learns surf. Which, we should probably keep Rattata open as an option if he can.

However, I think Mankey would be a good choice. As much as I love the guy, he's not going to hold much of a threat against bigger Gym Leaders. Coincidentally... Our good friend Weee! can find some good use against Misty. Her Starmie doesn't actually know any Psychic attacks, making it painfully weak against an attack like Twinneedle. We may want to keep him in mind for that battle.

A girl at the pokecenter asked for my "information". I provided it.



She seems to think this will make us great friends - should I tell her that was intended to scare her off, and that now I'm terribly frightened? No... better just to leave.

This guy outside insisted I visit the museum, and it was only 50 pokedollars, so I decided what the heck, I'll give it a go. To be honest, Brock, the gym leader here, seems to terrify the local populace - he's said to be incredibly powerful, and I'm not sure if I can beat him. So the museum gave me some time to collect my thoughts.

Looking at the bones of dead pokemon, it turns out, is not actually a great confidence builder.



So, to the gym... before making the challenge, proper, I decide to swing by and check up on the rules here before preparing for battle. On my way in, I passed a girl in a red skirt and blue tanktop heading out. She waves to me, and I flinch for a moment thinking she was going to challenge me, but she just smiles and keeps on her way. Phew. Just as I'm relaxing, one of Brock's lackeys jumps me in the process though, screaming something about light years.

I nod, and return to the pokecenter to drop off GHIK and Dio. Apparently Brock likes rock types... or... uh... well, I'm hoping that what he's saying is that he liked rock types, and both NOVLAIKE and zihue should do well against them.
 
So. This is it. It's really happening - I'm about to battle my first gym leader. My heart pounds in my chest.
