Archdruid - Nature's Wrath
Sorcerer - Ancient Powers Unlocked
Warlord - Rule by the Sword

Videos Worth Watching [English]
iHunterKiller's How to Play - If you want to learn the game this is the best currently available. He knows what he is doing and is one of the few English LP types who really goes in depth and explains what and why he is doing stuff.
Quill18's first 4 videos - In these he plays some of the first campaign. It doesn't show off even as much as people are allowed to show and if you want a look at the campaign it does a decent job
Quill18's Dwarven Theocrat - He has the AI turned down low and its from a livestream so his face is in it if that matters. If you liked his videos of the campaign its a good watch. Also if your desperate for more AoW3 material it can fill the need. The playlist only has the first 3 videos in it at the moment, there are 4 with more to come from what I understand.
Bloody Battle Brain's Multiplayer Videos 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5&6 - He also has a follow up video to answer some questions he got. His videos are interesting and I think still some of the only multiplayer ones out there.
I (Akhier Dragonheart) now have videos of my own up. I fail against the Elven Court campaign on hard and I have been having some success with the Elven Court campaign on Normal

So it seems I accidentally put my canteen in my wheelbarrow and didn't notice... and then I got really thirsty... so right before going to sleep I go to take a swig from my canteen and... end up snorting a line of low-grade meth.

Fwiw, the existing thread: http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=122654.0

Not a *huge* amount of game info in it though, mostly just reminiscing about the series and similar games.

(and yeah, totally looking forward to this game myself)
(and Quill18's livestreaming it right now)

Ah, back on page 5 or so. I think I will keep my thread since I plan to be somewhat active with this. I will go and grab what I can from the other thread and include it here.

I pre-ordered this, so I guess I'll provide a review here once it comes out. From all the videos and LPs of it, though, it seems quite good. Really curious about the warlord.

There was a bit of a fuss last night because of the warlord image went away for a bit. It was just an error when updating the website but so many people where arguing back forth on whether it was just an error or they where going to release the info for it and messed up.

I just thought that they removed it until they released the info. Especially since the news on the site that was released that day (or very few days before) had a mention that they'd show the warlord before release.

They won't be releasing it till "late next week" apparently. The thread about the image going missing had some info from important type people though:

I have no idea where the button is gone, but we haven’t canceled the warlord class. From what I’ve been told, the reveal won’t be til late next week either, we only recorded the video for it yesterday.

Whoops that’s an error! We’re working on some website changes preparing from release.

No worries: regarding the Warlord Class

It's a great month for strategy gamers. Warlock II snuck out a couple of days ago and an expansion for CKII is coming out next Tuesday. I'm looking forward to Age of Wonders the most though. :)

How does this compare to Warlock 2? I am torn between the two...

Another on my "must buy and play" list. I've watched some of quill18's let's plays, and it sold me on it. Which is strange. I hate quill18's game videos due to their lack of focus, slightly annoying overtones, absolute lack of knowledge about any particular title or genre and good strategies in them, as well as the fact that he pretends that it's a blind-let's-play.

The game can sell. No need to not do *some* research-playing before the masses see your videos and get turned off good games by a reviewer's pretend idiocy.

It almost makes sense now. Only simple games get pre-reviewed and pre-played well by reviewers. Then they show them to the public. Anything more complex than a shooter or platformer and they ?must? hide standard game mechanics behind a veil of stupidity. "Wow. I didn't realize that!!!!".  Wow! Really? And this makes you money? Reviewing/playing like that?

I reckon AoW3 will do pretty damn well, even with the pre-release reviewers. It looks like a great game. I'd like to play it myself.

The most obvious difference is AoW3 has separate tactical combat whereas Warlock 2 all combat takes place on the strategic map a la Civilization.

AoW3 also has more detail and customisation in things like heroes and leaders (classes, specialisations, more choices at levelup), but maybe a little less in base units (levelup bonuses are predetermined for each unit type and don't vary).

I personally think AoW3 looks to have a better flow and structure, but that's an aspect that's hard to quantify at the best of times, nevermind when one game's not actually available to play yet (besides the chosen few).

If you've played the previous games in both series I don't think so much has changed that they can't be used as a rough comparison (and there's quite a lot of gameplay footage for both games at this point).

This video has a good explanation of AoW3. From what I have seen Warlock 2 is a great game and I will probably end up getting it myself at some point. If however this is just a matter of which do you get first then you might consider getting AoW3 before the 31st to get the pre-order stuff. If you don't mind spending five bucks more (by American pricing) the deluxe pre-order has not only the regular stuff (Elven Resurgence, a standalone scenario) but another scenario (Dragon's Throne) and the 2 hour official soundtrack. To get a good idea of whats coming with the pre-order here is the description from GOG (I bolded the stuff specific to the deluxe version):

Thanks, I've watched the videos of AoW3 and actually have Warlock 1, I just haven't played it for too long to remember the differences, but oh how could I forget about the combat!

Anyway, decision made, pre-ordered AoW3 because it has more defining characters and I've been impressed by the previews already.

I haven't been this excited about a game in ages. I can't wait to dive into the campaign. I think the AoW1 campaign, even though I don't quite recall all the scenarios, was one of my favorite 4x campaigns ever. I recall my halfling mage riding a boar tunneling underground for some surprise attacks on quite a few occasions.
