Is creating a Planepacked-esque artifact still possible?
« on: March 22, 2014, 07:16:03 pm »

I read about Planepacked, the greatest ever artifact created by dwarves. I will wait for the next strange mood, with a burrow on standby, quickly load it with the required materials, and assign the moody citizen to the burrow with the required workshop outside, as Planepacked was accidentally created.
And since my fort has far too much crap lying around, we can see if we can make an even GREATER artifact.

I've done it in the most recent version. I set a dwarf to have a burrow over my metal stockpile and waited for a while before unsetting it to get a really high-value artifact.

Yeah, I've done it on the current version.
With DFHack.... And fastdwarf+teledwarf active...
And still let him run around for a few months gathering things...

Too Intense.

tl;dr: I can confirm that 34.11 still has the Planepacked glitch

Dwarf Fortress: it's not a bug, it's not a feature. Weaponize it.

How heavy was planepacked and can you then drop it on top of goblins/elves?

I don't believe encrusted or otherwise altered items actually gain anything other than a wealth value based off of what or how a material is added to them. But yes, you can drop it on goblins/elfs.

I was using planepacked bugs to keep my fisherdwarf from going insane. I set him up with a convenient stone stockpile while I figured out what he wanted. The resulting trumpet was worth 1.3 million dwarfbucks and prompted two ambushes and a siege within a month.
