I'm going to be one of the people who call a Late April to Early May release. The update sounds like its almost feature complete from the devlogs, and I can't imagine there are too many major bugs left to fix since Toady sounds like he bugfixes while he codes new features.

I'm betting 2014 is optimistic, especially if we factor the bug fixes and 3rd party tool updates that will inevitably be needed.

Yeah, if ToadyOne had literally ignored every single bug that came up until the update was feature complete, and then tried to fix every single little bug in the entire game. 2015+ is unrealistically pessimistic, and just plain foolish.

2-3 months is what i'm thinking. Late april to early may is too optimistic, but from the sounds of it toady is almost finished with features.

Hoping for June. Betting on June. Come on Toady, wait for summer.

Given how many bugs Dwarf Fortress tends to have, it's not unreasonable that it'll take a while.

I think if he fixes EVERY SINGLE LITTLE BUG in the whole game 2016 is optimistic

I think it's optimistic to think that he'll fix every bug, ever.

Well, if we can somehow give him immortality.....

he'll just add new features forever and hence more bugs..

But old bugs will die.

I mean you can today reasonably expect a dwarf not to put themselves on the wrong side of a flood-gate, or run through fire. That's progress.

Yeah, instead they just stand on top of Floodgates and walls and refuse to build them because "creature occupying site", or just stand stock still when they're on fire because the nearby tiles are heated to burning temperature by them. Progress indeed.  :P

Well at least we won't have to deconstruct to try again, and they wont put the whole forteresse in fire.
Progress confirmed.  :p

Seems like mid may, to mid June would be the most likely case unless toady finds unexpected inspiration or a particularly nasty to fix bug shows up.

I can foresee it by the end of next week.

Come on Toady, we're counting on you!

[INTENSIFYING INTENSIFIES]

Really though, I'm willing to say it should be out sometime this month. But for all we know Toady could release it today if he wanted to.
