I'd turn that around, actually: why not sick Tawa on me?  I'm not going to die any time soon because everyone knows I'm not the converter, and will be aiming their lynches/kills accordingly.  That means that Tawa and MOWE can both enjoy towncred indefinitely (since obviously the mafia would never send 2v1), since my true alignment won't be revealed.  Heck, if things get really bad they could even convert me to get the mafia flip they need to "clear" themselves.

Although actually I sustain my objection: I'd have no way of knowing who I was about to get into a 1v1 with.  It wouldn't be "a gambit to get Tawarochir lynched", it would be "a gambit to get into a fight with a random person".

Having played a good bit with Tiruin, I don't see Scum Tiruin making such a play; Town Tiruin is willing to risk herself to shield others she perceives as innocent.

Toaster: Can you provide some prior examples of town Tiruin doing that, please?  I've never much liked seeing meta arguments without evidence given to back them.

No.  A team-mate could just have easily got that information.

Leafsnail: What would the point even be in doing this, though?  What kind of scumteam would benefit from having one player blatantly do some sort of action on players night and day, while having another secretly do the actions the first claims to do?

I had reservations and a general feeling of distrust. They have been aired.
But if I'm not allowed to use metagaming and player knowledge to help my decisions, I guess I can't see Tiruin buddying as a towntell instead of the scumtell it is.

On Objective, and Use of His Activities: I'm noticing the occasional attempt to use Objective's latest activities as evidence for and against (particularly against) other players being scum.  I strongly advise remembering Cult Mafia and the NUKE incident: Objective has been pretty clearly scum for quite some time now, and is likely not acting under the assumption that he can still dodge such a label.  I would take caution in interpreting his actions.

On Tawarochir's Santa Claim Oddity: While I can see a possible innocuous explanation, I want to see Tawarochir explain what he was doing with his claim.

On Protect: I feel that this is a good time to bring up Day 1 and early Day 2, when a set of players either indicated that they believed protects protect against far more than kills, or indicated confusion about what they protect against.  This set of players includes 4maskwolf, Objective, Tack, and Tiruin.  The first public statement that protect only stops kills was the following post by NQT:

Protect only protects against killing. The buying phase is between the Day and Night phases. If a player gets sapped during the day, they will only have one experience point to spend at the end of that day (assuming they don't have dense and they don't die during the day).

The day dragged on and more of the adventurers seemed weary at the constant back and forth, yet a consensus had yet to be met. Steadily, the rushes started to burn low until all that could be seen was the pale smoke in front of them and the dim shape of men, women and beasts lumbering in the dark.

And then the Toaster set alight the pews! The brilliant blaze cast their gaunt shadows against the four walls of the vaulted crypt and the adventurers saw each other clearly: haggard figures shuffling towards the fire for warmth and, for some, the promise of cooked meat...

I'm actually having trouble finding them- I can recall it happening a lot in one specific game, but damned if I can remember which one it is.  She covered for Ranger a lot in Smstr, though.

Also, in Para23, Town Tiruin was defending (as it turns out) Scum Imp.
