-snip-
I am rather new to millers, and am generally inexperienced overall. I've played mafia games before, but usually rather basic. And gosh was I terrible at it.
But there's been 5 miller claims so far: Jack A T, 4maskwolf, TheDarkStar, Deathsword, mastahcheese, and a few 'Not Miller' claims.

Tell me Jack A T, if you were on a scumteam in this game, would you counsel your fellows to claim miller, claim against, or keep their silence?

P-Luke: I would hope there is no scum dumb enough to take innocent, but as the first person to call "not miller", you've made it a possibility.
If you are town, what are your reasons for not taking miller?

MyOwnWorstEnemy: Exactly the same. What did you hope to achieve for the townie side by calling 'not miller'?

NativeForeigner: Lurking is wrong.

Everyone who chose Miller: What made you decide to take that as your flaw? What did you hope to accomplish?

It's the least annoying flaw. It gave me a point to do stuff with.

I hoped to gain an extra point to spend. It worked quite well.
I didn't see it as a bad thing because I figured that the scum could simply take innocent, so it's not like inspections would be very trustworthy if I hadn't taken it, either.

To be fair, I said that before I was aware that practically everyone took "miller".

What? Oh, that. I was trying to highlight both of them, it just kind of came out as only the wolf of four masks.

Sorry about that.
While a fair point, you fail to acknowledge the part where I asked why you didn't get on Jack for the exact same thing.
I think you need to work on your quoting, sir.

I'd guess a night kill. A night convert would probably raise a lot of suspicion in a short period of time due to someone rapidly changing mood, while a night kill could be ambiguous, since anyone could have a kill.
Conversions are actually almost strictly better than kills.  You get an extra vote as well as removing a town vote, and also nobody realizes it happened.  They also fuck up any attempts to create confirmed townies.
The reason for them not to choose miller is to not confuse the hell out of each other and thus allowing the Alignment Cop to actually be somewhat useful. Did you choose miller?
Of course I did.  The Alignment Cop is basically 100% useless even without me picking miller.  Like, what do its investigations actually tell you?  A mafia investigation says "this person could be scum, or more likely is town with miller (still true even if I did not pick miller)".  A town investigation says "this person could be town, or could be a mafia member who predicted my arrival and spent a single point to render my 5 point ability completely useless".  Considering the fact that you could get Ability Cop for the same price (which would be good at spotting scum builds) or a 100% infallible inspection for a single point more I don't even see why anyone would pick it.  Heck, I think Count is actually a better inspection at 3 points less.

So basically I think the benefit entire town having +1 point (a point that mafia cannot get, and thus will struggle to lie about) vastly outweighs the downside of an already incredibly shite ability (with multiple better alternatives) becoming a tiny bit more shite.

So I guess I'll return the question: assuming you were town, you were offered an extra point basically for free.  Why didn't you take it?

Yeah, I figured it out.

Jim Groovester: Is there any particular town build, that you think other town should be wary of, and why?

Tack: Are you a Miller? If not, why not?

TheDarkStar: If you were to be inspected, would you turn out to be town or scum?

Since I didn't get around to it earlier:

Questions!

Tiruin: Is taking Miller helpful or harmful?

P-Luke: Why did you pick the "Can't Vote" flaw when that is one of your main abilities as town?

Tiruin: Do you think that Bloodthristy is beneficial for the town?

I can't think of too many right now; I'll probably ask more later.

PPE: Wow, so many posts while I was typing between every time that I click "post".

PPE #2: I'm a miller, so unless you used to better version of the inspect power, I'd come up as scum.

mastahcheese: Here's why I claimed miller:
To elaborate, claiming it the very first post of your game- and making it your meta- does several things.  If it's a true claim, then it's right out there in the open for everyone to know.  It tells people that alignment inspecting you will return a scum result, so go inspect elsewhere.  The big reason is in opposition, though.  If you are one- or are scum- claiming Kook [Paranormal's version of Miller] after someone claims a guilty inspection on you is very unlikely to convince people not to lynch you.  The goal is to turn it into a null tell; something that is acknowledged and then moved on from.
Besides, people should be trying to figure out whether my claim is legitimate or not.  That is kind of the whole point of town play: figuring out who is trying to fake being town.

MyOwnWorstEnemy: Miller gave me a point, which was useful for my build.  And there's no significant harm from the flaw: Alignment Cop, the only effected power, is ridiculously overpriced compared to Infallible Alignment Cop.  Also, it lets Ability Cops confirm me.

Tack: I'd get one person, if I had a rookie on the team, to join the anti-Miller forces.   Beyond that, miller plans at the scumteam level are probably best done in the pre-game, power-determining stage, and I haven't thought scum roles through quite enough to give a good answer.

NativeForeigner: Lurking is wrong.
Tack again: NativeForeigner was last on the forum 6 hours before the day even started.  Give the game at least a day before throwing out lurking accusations, please.

TheDarkStar: On Bloodthirsty: Depends on whether the person with it plays responsibility.  If it encourages players to better argue their cases, good.  If people bandwagon for points, bad.

My god, the newbie reads I'm getting.

Why are you calling out and voting P-Luke for taking No-Vote?
I, for one, also took no vote, is why I'm asking. You know that you can spend points later to remove it, right?

Jack Attack (If you don't mind me calling you that)
Yeah, I asked that while still reading though, I figured it out by the end of my post, but still wanted to know your response.

I'm calling him out because he explains why it makes sense for scum to pick it in his post, but does not give a town reason. I want to see what he says.

I am not, and as for why not- I didn't think of it. Sucks I don't get points for picking VI

Jack A T: It is actually possible to enter the Mafia forums whilst being logged out. I don't know if anyone would seriously expend that much effort, but never close your mind to the improbable.

Tack: Still, a lurking accusation this early in the game is pretty ridiculous, even with a silly justification for ignoring Native not having shown as online.
More importantly, as 4maskwolf asked (and you didn't answer), why Native specifically?  He's not the only one not to have posted.  Objective hasn't.  Jim hasn't.
