"Ah, a traveler. Are you lost or seeking refuge? I can brew some tea... or prepare a meal. Do tell if you need to find your way out of this forest - I can lead you to the manor of the local lord."

Colt quickly dusted off his robes hastily. His shoes were a mess, so he dared not step from the threshold.

: "Thank the heavens above your not some old woman or... Nevermind. My companions require aid. We had separated a mere moments ago when I volunteered to come here to see just who in their right mind would be choosing to live in a such a place as this.

: "However... I saw shadows in the treeline and sounds of battle. I know not of my companions fate as of yet... But given our current circumstances, I fear greatly for their safety... Tea and food... I am afraid that may have to wait until we get this matter settled out."

The mage responded after a moment.

"I see... perhaps its some monsters that dwell in this forest... that stood in their way." The man moved back to the other room, his monotone voice continuing, with the flop-flop sounds of his sandals accompanying him.

"Monsters here work together... easier for them to catch prey..."

"And if you give me a moment... I will gather my belongings..."

"Should I take some food and drinks as well?... If your group wants a guide, then, hmmm..."

"...Yes, yes I think I should put on my swamp shoes..." His sleepish voice went on and on.

Colt inwardly groaned.
: "This man must be a hedge mage...Why did it have to be a hedge mage?"

He shook his head impatiently.

: "Listen. We'll worry about food later. My Lady will see about everything else. Tea and such. Whatever. I need to be certain that she is alright. Understand?"

The man paced back to the kitchen with some items at belt and in his hand.

"That was rude of you... but here, I am ready to go." He then stepped outside, squinting his eyes a little at the sun.

"So... where's that girlfriend of yours? I reckon we should join her immediatelly."
