@Colt

There were few excerpts on magical gemstones of the old times that granted wishes. One was about Stone of Power, other about Crystal of Wishes, and other about Wishing Pearl of South Coast. The book had paragraphs on what happened to these gemstones:

"And great Fubbar raised the stone toward the heavens and with his single word an army of ghosts appeared and they have razed the town of Alberqun, and then the town of Rabban, and finally the town of Pocco before Lord Avalon have struck down the vile necromancer. The stone of vile Fubbar was then taken by four mages and crushed to dust and ether with a mighty silver hammer."

"Upon seizure of the treasury of the corrupt Deragont, seventh Duke of Cadus peninsula, the mages have found a pink Crystal of Wishes. It has been taken to the royal treasury in Ture and kept there, until the treasury burned down in Year 694 of Rivan Calendar. During the chaos of the fire, this Crystal along with many books on dark magic is thought to have perished or stolen by the unfaithful servants."

"Baron Lavyerque have added the Wishing Pearl of the South Coast to his crest shortly after the Third Battle of York in Year 625 of Rivan Calendar, which now bears both of the Souleating Lions climbing over the enlarged image of the Wishing Pearl, and since then it was passed from father to son as family heirloom that is to be used only in times of great peril, as the crystal's powers can move people from place to place instantly."

@O'Connor:

"There might be, however, I would like to see your seal or permit first." The elder opened his hand and waited for the credentials.

@Halldora:

There were plenty of books about Eferia that Halldora could choose from: "Conflicts of Eferia", "Wars of Southern Kingdoms," "Unification of the South; Book IV - Eferia and Ysmir", and "On Royal Customs of Ancient Eferian Kingdom" and "Genealogies of Post-Unification Rivan Empire".

Grabbing his cloak, he tore off two clean strips of cloth and nestled them in between the pages that talked about the Wishing Pearl and the Crystal of Wishes.

The Crystal of Wishes in particular interested him. Cadus... He had heard that name somewhere before. It was such nuisance to have a name on the tip of one's tongue but not be able to find it. But now his head was throbbing. Ever since he arrived, he had been reading at a furious pace. His companions had probably not even started yet.
: "Ah well... Such is life..."

With a self-satisfied air, he pulled down 'Lost and Found - Magical Devices Appearing in History', searching for articles on the Wising Pearl and the Crystal of Wishes in particular.

"Doesn't look like he sells staffs here. But he thinks there may be some at a chapel with a picture of a lady holding a moon and sun in her hands. Do you want to head that way while I check out the fletchers? Oh, and I guess I'll check out the magic store after that."

Halldora looked with particular interest at one of the books, Unification of the South-- but wait, Conflicts of Eferia also looked useful! But, the Unification book looked more directly applicable, but Conflicts of Eferia painted a broader stroke, but, but, but...

Halldora just gives up and grabs a book without really thinking about it: the Unification book.

@O'Connor:

"Really." The elder looked over O'Connor's armor and clothes, certainly not approving of the latest surge of militant 'scholars' invading his archives...

"Please wait here." The old man quickly moved from behind the counter and went upstairs. Soon he showed up at the top with Eleonore in tow, curiously peeking at the ground floor.

"Oh, oh yes! That's one of my companions. He was going to be a bit late. I haven't told you that, sir? My apologies." The elder just scoffed and went downstairs, then back behind his counter. Eleonore smiled to O'Connor and then went back between the bookshelves to continue her research.

"The 'biographies and population censuses' section is behind the door on the right, in the back. Three shelves in the middle."

@Colt:

Colt quickly found the pages devoted to the two gemstones. The sections were in different part of the book, but the description of both of these artifacts was identical: "a sphere of pink crystal, known to speak in unknown language at times and glow brightly whenever a wish of a person is being fulfilled."

While Crystal of Wishes had only one chronological entry, the Wishing Pearl apparently appeared seven times in seven different locations. The newest entry was of course about the gemstone held currenly by Baron Lavyerque; the oldest entry mentioned the Wishing Pearl being housed in Kingdom of Ysmir but the gemstone apparently dissappeared shortly before the conquest of Eferia by the Rivan Empire of the old, and then it resurfaced some sixty years later in collection of a merchant in Grand Duchy of Cadus.

@Halldora:

'Unification of the South' dealt primarily with descriptions of conquest of Eferia and Ysmir. Victories both in field and in sieges were described brightly and loudly, while defeats had only marginalized mentions. Then, there was this paragraph about the final years of the conquest:

"While the City of Ture remained free and continued mocking the armies of Rivan Empire, a swift attack at the capital of Eferia saw the downfall of the kingdom; indeed, the barbaric King sold his fair daughter, the last Princess of Eferia, to the young Prince of Rivan. The marriage of the two royal children also served as permament peace treaty and orders were sent to the brave and stubborn defenders of Ture to lay down their weapons. The Kingdom of Eferia continued to exist as a puppet state for next seven years, before it was dissolved along with freshly conquered Kingdom of Ysmir and its land labeled was 'Western Territory', the name it bears until today."

@Einar:

Einar quickly found out that Margoth was apparently not a lady; he was rather obese, with thick grey mesh on the double-chin, and shaggy brown hair resting against his shoulders.

"Hello there. How can I help you, son?" The owner of the shop asked in a low voice while a brown-haired youth emerged from a door in the back and began filling a nearby shelf with sets of crossbow bolts wrapped together with wire.

@Nerea:

Nerea got to the chapel and after venturing inside, she found herself in small, dimly-lit room, the numerous lit candles giving little light. There were rows of chairs, and an altar, upon which the very same woman, holding sun and moon, stood - the figurine being no taller than three feet.

The chapel was empty besides an elderly monk sweeping the floor in the corner with a broom. He was so absorbed in his sweeping that he seemingly didn't notice Nerea enter... nor he heard the wooden door creak horribly thanks to the old hinges.

@Einar:

"The price list is hanging there, dear." Margoth spoke, nodding toward Einar's side. And indeed, the list was there - the selection was neither large nor of high quality:

Quote
Iron Bow: 320 gold
Short Bow: 350 gold
Steel Bow: 500 gold
Iron Longbow: 350 gold
Forest Longbow: 500 gold
Steel Longbow: 550 gold
Iron Crossbow: 400 gold
Poison Crossbow: 500 gold
Steel Crossbow: 600 gold
