Except you need a macro (and I don't know how to write macros) and you need to make a new one each time or something I dunno.

Or you just need to be willing to endure intensely tedious, repetitive work. And given that we play Dwarf Fortress, this should not be new to us. Also apparently each smaller stack of coins will melt down to .1 bars, and one bar produces 500 coins, resulting in 50 goddamn bars from one stack of coins.

Large amounts of coins are easy to set up a macro for with a decent trader. Make the foreign trader ecstatic and trade a few pages of single coins (to get around the odd thing where the order of the list changes a little bit on each trade). Next, trade one coin for one coin until you run out. Finally, buy the leftover coins back.

leggings and giant axe blades produce 1.5 to 1. Good way to train up metalsmiths too.
