I would never use one for anything other than personal interest, and maybe granting credence to some paranoid theories I have. I probably wouldn't be willing to pay a large sum of money for it.

Why did you come to Bay12 looking for sensible people?

Hard science is like a sword, and soft science is like fear. You can use both to equally powerful results, but even if your opponent disbelieve your stabs, they will still die.

I would think B12 people would be interested in data collection on water. Let me put it this way: if you could buy a really great pocket microscope for $5 would you buy 0, 1, a few, or as many as you could?

I suspect the general answer around here would be somewhere between 1 and All Of The Things.

How'd I miss this? We performed water quality tests in my chem lab last week, but our samples were collected in small bottles straight from the tap. The titrations for hardness and alkalinity would've been a little easier with one of these, if only because it allows more precise delivery of titrant and sample, but it wasn't too difficult without it, either. For high precision work, I'd go for this (if I understand what it does correctly.)

Edit: Seems I didn't understand. No vote.

That's because microscopes are awesome.

God damn it, internet. Two out of the last six responses were serious.

What uses would you have for an autosampler?:
Checking water for government brainwashing chemicals
Testing of water for use in pools containing lolis in school swimsuits
Seeing what is in tap water in various areas of the country.
River and stream sampling., Agricultural sampling., Lake sampling.
Proving that the district council is putting mind-altering chemicals in the water supply.
Testing my jizz

I can't make this shit up.

Are these the two that were serious?

I just wish that you wouldn't answer a survey twice, Remuthra. It biases the results.

I didn't, either. That's what makes it so true.

DO NOT TAKE UNLESS YOU WORK IN THE FIELD, PLEASE.

So tempting to troll...

I think you might need to look elsewhere for people to survey.

Also, assuming Remuthra's telling the truth, that makes 33.3% of the Bay 12 forums think they're being brainwashed by the local government.

Final Assessment: Four out of six people in the water treatment industry would completely misuse an autosampler.
