Rebellion and Revolution
« on: March 18, 2014, 07:59:54 am »

The colony of Vastein, had been established by the great Empire of Asmea in 1754, and for many years the colonist profited from exporting raw goods such as foods iron ore and timber to the fatherland, the local governor known as the Viceroy ruling from the mountain city of Kela with complete control over all the running's of the Colony, and with total military control in the region. With the guiding hand of Asmea, the people of the colonies continued to enjoy security, both from external forces, and from overzealous Viceroys. So it had been and so it always would be, but in 1888, that all changed, with no warning or explanation, the colony of Vastein found itself cut off from Asmea.

Initially many felt that it would pass, but after a few months it began to set in, Vastein was alone. Panic began to spread amongst the colonies, however the Viceroy was quick to act, he mobilised the military to crackdown on the local rioters, and established a new rule. Turning Kela into a massive factory/fortress city, Viceroy Attira quickly established total control and order over Vastein, and at first, many were happy. But over the next 4 years the crackdowns got worse, people were arrested on masse, crops were seized and everywhere the Viceroy's rule became stricter and harsher. And now people have had enough, mass riots not in panic, but resistance against the Viceroy, soon armed rebellions were spreading up in the countryside, but little is known about them, the State controlled media presents only more glory from the Viceroy, and the Military and police crack-down on any who would say otherwise, people are scared, angry and confused, and the crisis is only getting worse.

You brave few, over a small bar in the city of Larton, have decided enough is enough, you will bring the people together to fight the Viceroy's oppressive regime, there will be hardships, and there will be loss, but you will strive onwards, you will bring about revolution.

We are Yuliana "the red" Filipov a 22 year old factory worker, of better than average looks, and a main of fiery red hair.
A Lower class working girl filled with a burning rage against well all most every thing it seems, Egoist/Insurrectionary anarchism and Marxism give you a lot of enemy's.

Clearly reading both the Manifesto of the Communist Party and Max Stirner's The Ego and Its Own during a absinthe bing has given her some odd ideas.

Her family are less than impressed with her views and are trying to get her married, so far with out luck.

Scratch that, for now 7 is the definite max, also no reserving, its not first come first serve so you have time

Yes you can improve the skills as you go along
Alternate history (and sorta alternate world), and DOH! time period is Industrial era, the setting is an industrial era empire's faraway colony that has been cut off (as explained)
Though the alternate stuff isn't really that relevant, you just need to know that this is a colony, and its set with industrial era technology

Reserving; Bio coming up soon

Name: Anders Johansson, Middle Class

Once a merchant captain of a far-away empire, Johansson found himself the an unfortunate victim of the isolation of Vastein. Making the most of his terrible situation through careful use of his available funds to make good investments, Anders made himself a quite livable lifestyle in the colony, even establishing a few key noble contacts along the way.

The tyrannic rule of the Viceroy changed it all. Lusting for the wealth amassed by Anders in preparation of a grand voyage to find his way home, the Viceroy seized all his possessions, sold his lands to those who he favored, and sent the former captain into exile at the city of Larton. Obviously angered by these misdeeds, Anders resolved to aid the rebellion, and lead these people to a brighter future, perhaps like the democratic and fair rule of his homeland.

The resistance had begun, but for now they revolutionairies must decide, what are their short term goals? What shall they be called? The seeds of revolution must be firmly planted

Decide a name for your group
Decide your immediate plans

The city of Larton is a rather poor dock city, it used to be the centre of trade with Asmea, but as that has stopped it has now become a slum-filled crime den, but with little proper power from the viceroy since it is also in the far south of the colony where Kela is in the far North

(Yeah this isn't much, but this stuff, or at least the planning, needs to be decided, don't worry you'll be able to do whatever you want (within reason) afterwards, but there must be a plan, and there will, for now, be a planning session every game week, next meeting is at the same bar)

(For anyone else, you can still join, the game wont properly start until after this meeting has concluded, which will be when I get back this afternoon, cheers :)) )
