'Black X' gains Weapon Triangle advantage against X, but everything else gains Weapon Triangle advantage against 'Black X'.

At least, that's the interpretation I can make out of the mysterious description in the handbook.

Certainly looks that way.

What crappy magic.

Well, I mean, once you get to S rank it's pretty frickin' awesome since you can just use those two tomes and be set for basically everything, plus whatever lower rank tomes from Ancient to fuck with people, but until then...

What crappy magic.

Well the lower tiers do look crappy but tell me that 'Black Physique/Old Black Magic', which is basically against all weapons/magic, is crappy :P

AGGGGHHH

Second time my post was eaten.

HOW DOES DISCIPLINE WORK? AND HOW DOES IT INTERACT WITH OMNI-WEAPON?

And can I change my sword subcategory to Crushing, since I haven't done anything with any swords yet, so it wouldn't change anything(yet)?

HOW DOES DISCIPLINE WORK? AND HOW DOES IT INTERACT WITH OMNI-WEAPON?

Every 10 Total levels you can raise one of Subcategories you have by 1 rank.

Doesn't see why it should interact with Omni-Weapon considering it gives special rules to the character rather than supplying it with subcats.

And can I change my sword subcategory to Crushing, since I haven't done anything with any swords yet, so it wouldn't change anything(yet)?

You can always change your subcategory when you promote :P

Bwuh? You can?

That's new. And useless, at the moment. >.>

But subcategories? Alright. So Lances(D) Spears (C)-> Lances (D) Spears (B), right? Or possibly Lances (D), Spears (C), Polearms (C)?

Does it carry over when you promote? Like if I promoted to a Great Knight, Lances (D?), Spears (A), Polearms (C)?

Bwuh? You can?

Well, of course? I don't see why not.

All ranks are replaced by higher ones the moment you promote.

So the Discipline rank ups you get during your first class don't carry into Promoted class? Sad face.

What if you had a higher rank in a weapon before you promote? Like if a Scavenger put both of his upgrades into Sidearms and then promoted to Bounty Hunter?

It usually says 'your chosen X subcategory' which I thought meant the subcategory you'd chosen in your first class.

Yeeees.

Why you people act surprised? It even says 'Your choosen Subcategory' in both First Class and Promoted Class, so my interpretation is that you can change them whenever you switch class :P

Whichever is higher 'wins'.

That was my assumption as well.  The only place where you don't see that wording is where the promoted class gains proficiency in a new subcategory, as far as I can tell.

EDIT:

Err, in my version of the handbook, it has that wording only in promoted classes, and only where it's carried over from a first class that shared that proficiency.  Oh, but if you're permitting Rolepgeek to switch out his specialization, I see no reason not to permit that. ^_^

EDIT 2:
Just redownloaded the OP version.  Same wording, same version (1.20).  First Classes uniformly use "1 X Subcategory", except Nomads, which use "Choose 1 X Subcategory."
