Bio:
Cidney Wellison was born in Eferia, out in the country, to a poor farming family in the north-western reaches of the kingdom. As a child he was always getting into trouble, and had a mischievous attitude that only grew and focused as he neared adult-hood. When he was still a boy, on the verge of manhood, he was exiled to the badlands when he was found in bed with both the wife and daughter of the local governor...simultaneously. Cidney did not die when he was sent there, as he had been expected to. Instead, he
thrived. The young man quickly inserted himself into the rough and tumble society that was present there. He made something of name for himself, joining the band of noble brigands who called themselves the Gate Breakers, or the Gaters, for short. Whilst in the company of such coarse men, he met someone who would later realize he was in love with. Theryl Bacspier, a younger man, but a wiser one, and kinder, who had been exiled from Eferia as well, though he'd lived in the south. They were great friends, and even after the Gate Breakers fell apart from a leadership dispute, they remained together in their dealings.
But nothing good can last; this Cidney learned well, one fateful day. A Rivan Expeditionary Team sent to the badlands pillaged the town they'd been staying in, and, as all people of the badlands, they fought these outsiders along with the rest of the town. It was not a simple matter for the Rivans to win, and they took some heavy casualties, but in the end, their mages razed the place to the ground, and Cidney could only watch helplessly as one burned his beloved alive, whom had never heard him voice his true feelings. Captured by the Rivans in the aftermath, he vowed vengeance and death to the bastards who had slain his friend and ruined his life for the second time. When an Eferian force defeated those same Rivans and he was freed, he was brought back to Eferia, whereupon he had been made an offer; serve in the army against the Rivan Empire, or be executed for his return to Eferian soil(bureaucracy is stupid no matter where you go).
Cidney was more than willing to accept.
