We now have a few medals to give out. One Urban combat (defense) and two Escort (no panic when someone dies).


On a random note, here are a few of our soldiers chatting near the pool tables. Farraige is very noticable!


A day later our reserach into Meld is completed

We begin the Floater autopsy.



Not long afterwards our Officer Training School is finished. Lots of Soldier and Squad level upgrades to unlock in here. Some of them are quite expensive. They're mostly what you'd expect by the name, but ask if you have questions on any of them.


Lots of new ways to spend money! And...not all that much money to spend, really. How do you guys want to go about doing things?

Welp. I'm too sleepy to sift through all the info on new stuff, but that was a pretty good mission!
I'll keep my laser rifle as opposed to a shotgun, though. I still want to go for long-range accuracy.

The "pool table socializing" made me chuckle, simply for how unexpected it was. :)

Note that we have §185, and increasing our squad size to 5 only costs §50, so we have a bit more we can do. Like building either Cybernetics or Genetics labs and upgrading someone. I don't know that we have enough to both cyborgize someone and build a Mec for them without selling stuff, but that is always an option.

Alternatively, we could unlock more stuff from the OTC, like Wet Works which increases XP from kills.

We could also build another satellite and get that going so we have 2 to place by the end of the month.

     Bloody hell - can't hit the side of a barn with.....the side of a barn.  Maybe I should take a SCOPE next time, instead of 'nade.

    1) Another sat in the pipeline would be good.
    2) Squad-size up to five will enhance surviveablity of all its members.
    3) My preference is for a Genetics Lab to be built.

The Giant Moles in the caverns of my current fort breed like crazy, even while regularly being decimated by other beasts entering them...

This sounds good. The genetics will allow for more versatility, whereas the mechtroopers are simply best for tanking and dealing lots of damage.

Dohohoho, Uisce is very noticable indeed. Who are the other two soldiers, though?

I for one would like you guys to buy Wet Works so we can start getting unreasonably swole.

Also, I liked what Giglamesh was doing with the psychiatric post-mission debrief, so I figured I'd do so too.

Squad Size I is purchased, which allows us to bring 5 troops on each mission. Squad Size II, sadly, requires at least a Captain to get, and we don't have that yet.

I also begin work on the Genetics Lab, since that had the most votes, and got the engineers working on another satellite.


Our Floater autopsy is complete. It allows us to build Dodge Matrixes, which are expensive one-shot items that let our craft dodge some attacks. Since we don't have any upgraded weapons for our fighters yet they could be worth the money.


We begin work on the Sectoid autopsy.


Not long after, we get a rather nice proposition from the Indian government. Since laser pistols only cost §8 each, I glad go ahead and order a few more built.


We means we have money again!


Question is, what to do with it?

We could unlock more stuff from the Officer Training school, wait for the Genetics lab to be built and upgrade some of our troops, or work on expanding the base more.

If we want to expand the base we have to make a decision. We have enough power for either a new lift down to Level 3, which would let us start working towards a Steam Power plant. Or, we could go ahead and make the Cybernetics lab and just plan on putting another power plant on Level 2. We have a slight configuration issue where our Power system and our Satellite system conflict. Both want to have as many things next to each other as possible, and there isn't for that. So we either sacrifice Satellite bonuses for power bonuses or we pay the premium to go down to the Steam early.

     Fortunately, getting the thermo generator is relatively quick, 5 days for the new elevator and 8 days build time for the generator itself.  All the spaces have already been excavated.
     Wet Works would be nice, but we do need to watch our cash.  If we still have about §50 after purchasing WW, then go for it.
     What is the research time on Experimental Warfare, Meph?  That should be our next research choice, we need the upgrades from the Foundry.
