Also if we have the cash, another sat uplink next to the existing one, or we could use the cash we get from China to fund SatDom.

Just so people know, in one of my actual games, I actually managed to skip laser weapons entirely and go straight into plasma, to save on weapon fragments, but then the game ramps up the difficulty like 4-fold for the huge jump, so I wouldn't recommend it.

+1 to laser research.

Ok, so it sounds like Beam Weapons is next. I will also put the Satellite over China and we will get to work on the next Satellite control center and some more Satellites so we can hopefully avoid any potential panic issues next month while still having a good income this month.

I'll get to work on the turn shortly.

Sweet!

Also, if you skip lasers, then you can't even use the lasers that EXALT brings later on, which makes no sense, but that's how it is.

Oooor the game could throw an Abduction mission at us right before the end of the month.

I'd thought about this possibility, so I hadn't actually put down the satellite yet. Which is a good thing. Based on the decisions you guys made, I had some obvious things to do here, so I'm just going to go ahead and send some of you in.

Well...that could have gone worse. We also have a new medal to grant a power for, so you guys can vote on that (and the other medal).

Overall we have three medals to give out.

Squadsight is definitely better in my opinion, but 'tis not my choice.

By god, get squadsight.

Panic seems to not be an issue after troops get beyond corporal, but two health also ends up not really being much.

I'd say no panic and use it as a crutch for relatively untrained soldiers until they get some decent will.

Bah. That mission took some of our best men out of commission. No Panic seems like a good idea. Just give it someone with relatively quick panic tendencies.

On the bright side, this will give Krauss more time to prove his worth.

Woo! I got folk killed!!!

Ummm, well, it sounds like squadsight is vastly superior, unlimited range versus the ability to reduce range with only mildly crippling side effects. Buuuuuut, snapshot is more in-character, and what is an L.P. without the option to try new, and disastrous, things, so I gotta vote for snapshot.

To be fair, Squadsight is only vastly superior in Enemy Unknown. It's not quite as OP in Enemy Within compared to Snap Shot, and my experience so far is that it now depends on the map on which is better. Snap shot is still more likely to get the sniper killed, of course, but that's part of the trade-off I suppose.

We deploy the Satellite to China, getting a hefty bonus in capital and offsetting the panic that not going to Asia for the last Abduction mission had. We promptly spend some of that money to get a pair of Interceptors based in Asia ASAP.

Shortly thereafter we get our first Council Report. Doing good!

Preparations are made to add a Satellite uplink to our network as well as an access lift so we can begin expanding our base vertically. This is most useful for the Power column, but will be handy with the Satellite uplinks soon enough. We've also ordered 2 more satellites to be built.

Ishmael is awarded an Urban Combat Medal in the hope that he'll get shot less in the future (ostensibly for his effective combat in the bar)
Brookwater is awarded an Escort's Honor in the hope that it'll make up for his rather low will (ostensibly for his bravery while assaulting the alien craft)

Ishmael has selected Snap Shot as his Skill for Corporal.

-- Bradford: Commander, the Aliens are conducting additional Abductions in the following countries. Germany, Egypt, and the United States.
-- COMMANDER: Pros and Cons for each?
-- Bradford: Germany is offering Engineers, although Europe in general is pretty quiet so they don't strictly need attention right now. Egypt is pretty panicked already, and they are offering Scientists. The US is offering additional Funding, and while they are not panicked Canada is looking pretty shaky.

So, where shall we go and who do you guys want to send? Ishmael is still in the Infirmary but everyone else is possible.
