After having some Fun with a drawbridge...
« on: March 16, 2014, 10:32:42 am »

...I can't memorialize the ghost of a fallen caravan guard. He's only restless and bugging this one soldier who was stationed outside, but I can't engrave a slab to him. His remains were atom smashed so I can't put them in a coffin. What do I do?

Use DF hack tweak for fixing ghosts, or you can just wait for the ghost to die of old age, if he isn't a murderous one, but that may take some time...

I moved the save to dfhack but the fix missing and the fix ghosts parts of "tweak" failed to work.

No, it's just restless.
The guy's bugging my single military unit.

Let him bug him, they'll become friends. or your guard will turn insane, depends.

I'm not sure, but I remember something at the wiki about it, you may be able to freeze him in a river or pond to limit his movements, if you have a freezing or temperate biome.

My biome is warm but for some reason the water freezes during the middle of winter.
I'll need to lure him into the water and keep him there, though.

Be free to use all the stupid dwarf tricks you can to achieve this, I would like if you conducted some science (please, not !!SCIENCE!!) on ghost behaviors and shared with us beforehand, if that wouldn't be ask much...

So far, he's just stalking that soldier.
Fitting, since he was a caravan guard.
The solider seems to not mind the otherworldly company.
EDIT: Oh dang he found his way into the fort. Everyone's so stoic and they're like "Oh, just a ghost.".

If he's still here in 100 years, I'm taking action.
