Should have been done in advance though you don't accept then renegotiate, and as it stands he has no reason to up our pay we've done nothing and if we're asking him to use his hounds asking for more money as well looks bad. Besides we'll make plenty from selling the loot we find in the camps,

Then lets not ask for hounds. Lets get cash instead. We can do this on our own, money is more important! And the duke is stingy. It's by his word that he's bankrupt, which I doubt he meant literally, I read it as an expression not a statement. If 80 isn't a lot, then he won't mind giving us a bonus for each head we get, right? It's completely fair, considering the more we kill the more cash he's bound to make.

Also the contract was accepted for us, unfortunately. We had no chance to go over terms OOC, so I think the kind and benevolent GM wouldn't punish us for going and talking to the duke again. :p

Dogs weren't my idea either. But we never asked to negotiate, lesson for the future. Going back to do it now just makes us look bad and also feels to much liek cheating for my tastes. We didn't ask to negotiate so we don't get to this time.

Whether or not they were your idea is beside the point, that you're okay with asking one favor but not another. It's not that big a deal, really. There's no harm in trying.

FAKEEDIT: Well we signed an agreement saying we're in his service. Dunno if that gives us permission to use his hounds. He never said his men or his estate or his town was at our disposal though.

Asking for a resource to carry out the job is different from trying to renegotiate the entire deal after we already agreed to it. Both because it's cheating to retro it in now and because any mercenary company that made that request would be fired told to leave and never return on the spot.

No noble would ever agree to renegotiate a deal after it was made.

I'm not asking for a retcon. And he'll never fire us! He's in desperate need of men. But we're not taking advantage of that, we're just going to nicely ask if we can work out a fair bonus in return for evidence of kills or something.

We can add other conditions to balance it. And I assume its the same day. It's not like we've sat around for half a month and now we're asking for more. We're not making demands. If he says no then it's whatever.

No need to try and balance it at all, it'd be simpler to just wait until it's over then see what bonus he offers. It'd make us look better as well then us asking for more. But then I'm not overly worried about money, we're covering our costs and will find plenty of loot in the camps from the caravans so I don't see the need to ask for more.
