With 16 exploration you can explore in loudthunder (Where the moccasinn inn is) or in the swamps.

eh, I can do loudthunder... good to know :D this game sure confusing, I though loud thunder will required more stats since it located deep in Lanfar than whispering forest.

For swamp I need to build Swamp environment first before I able to do that. Howling needs 15. I know I can learn 10 times in Enorwen which give 10 to my hero skill and I have 20 from my equipment, which give me roughly 8.0 + 3.0 = 11 swamp effective level. Where I can get another 4? I know I lacking for companion... is there other companion beside varanus that give swamp?

If you take actions in a swamp, you'll gain hero levels up to the swamp's level.  Fighting is an action.  Walk back and forth fighting everything that appears and you'll gain ranks.

Ah... that's true I never consider fighting since I'm new to this ^^ thank you.

How does one train their exploration? I'm stuck in the Hawkoria general area. I've been combing the local dungeons for loot and combat/terrain levels for a while now. My forest and cave levels have increased but exploration is stuck where it is.

All skills, as in your hero level itself, are trained only by using that particular skill to do an action (in most cases) no more than 5 below your current skill level.  So if you're at 11 exploration, exploring in a 5 difficulty area won't gain you more skill, just by doing it.

Exploration is unique in that anytime you discover a location, you have a chance to gain skill, regardless of the difficulty.

Also, in order to be able to find a location, your exploration can be no lower than 15 below the concealment of that location.

Easier methods, too, are buying a better compass and recruiting a guide, early on.

If you've noticed, your skill is broken down into hero skill, tool, companion, and location.  With exploration, whenever you travel to a campsite, that location is equal to your overall hero skill for exploration.    So if you're a 10, it's also a 10.

Ah, good to know. I'm just beginning to get a hang of the whole multi-tiered skill level taking from various skills and being divided/multiplied by some particular value to get your applicable level. That seriously confused and pissed me off at first. :P "My level is <?>, why the hell can't I complete the damn quest!?"

Yeah, it is odd, at first.  It actually works out well, though, for training multiple skills.  Being able to fund new skill learning from existing ones makes growth much quicker when you can start out with tools +15 above your skill & possible even a high overall skill if picking up a different skill under a trade you already have i.e. you've trained science/engineering to 40 and you decide to learn anatomy, you'll have a base skill of ~20 for your hero

A couple of quick updates:

B12 still has 1 guild going strong, though our overall numbers have definitely dwindled.  however, those of us who remain are within the top 1/3 of the game ranks, in terms of skill.  And that's being modest for a couple of people.

As a guild, we have completed several dozen large projects, now having access to current end-game metals, armors, weapons, etc.

There is a major content release hitting the US Server on Oct 1, adding a large area w/ higher skill challenges and quests, as well as 2 (I think) new trades and several other tweaks or features.

To any newcomers, you'll find the B12ers are willing to help you as much or little as you want.  If you prefer to do everything yourself, no prob.  However, be aware that this game is built around the idea of community and teamwork.

If anyone decides to try out or revisit the game, feel free to send me in-game mail @ Lithare, whether you need guidance or just a friend.   :)
