You can sleep anywhere outside of a "site."  Just travel to a map location and there will be a sleep option.  For free!  Though most of the inns aren't too bad.

As for alts...I have 9.  And I'm one of the smaller char armies in the bay12 group.  I like it beause if I get tired of 1 characters progress, I just queue up a bunch of gathering/crafting tasks and focus more actively on a different 1 for awhile.

Yeah true, I just meant more I wish the game TOLD me you had to actually queue up sleep to well... recover. I guess I'm too used to energy recovering over time, or instantly at a 'new day' or something hahaha.

Gotcha.  Yeah, in-game info is somewhat limited.  You can pick up tidbits from npcs statements, quest info, etc.  The game guide is highly recommended, and there are quite a few great threads in the ts forum.  We have the steam chat, and _Urist_ in-game, if you wanna join either of those.  I always have that chat channel open on all of my chars when I'm on, so I'd see any questions you may have.

I need to improve some of my alts, as they're about as far as they'll go with T1 companions and public workshops. So, I'm trying to figure out what option would be more cost effective in the long run:

• Build a shelter in Hawkoria and recruit a T2 for each alt.
• Build a workshop for each alt.
• Start a guild and build a factory (all the alts I'm concerned about do the same work).

The guild would be expensive, but so would purchasing a workshop and mill for each alt. Shelters and T2s would be cheapest, but also offers the least long term potential development, and for the work the alts do skipping T2s for T3s is possible. I probably just answered my own question, but advice would be appreciated.

In the extra time and cost it takes to build a shelter in hawk, you can build one in lanfar and still save a bit of time and money, so it's definitely in your best interest to go ahead and unlock lanfar if you go that route. Without knowing the skill though, can't help too much. If it's wood, metal, stone or flora, lanfar access is pretty much a necessity anyways and you get free better workshops in maliken, so that's a big plus. Fauna has the fast ticket to lanfar so that's even easier. With fashioning or science though, it's a lot less cut and dry, but the guild route is probably the wrong one to go for that, because fashion houses and laboratories are needed for some of the higher tier stuff and they're personal.

These are alts. I really don't feel like grinding quests and dungeons on each and every one of them, and the Maliken workshops won't help anyhow, besides which travel to Maliken is either dangerous or expensive, thus damaging my productivity and/or profits. They won't need access to Lanfar until they're using Lanfar materials faster than my main's gatherers can gather them, and then I can handle them individually until my net supply is positive again, rather than doing them all at once, not that that has anything to do with improving their skill. Even if I were to eventually do something individualized like fashion houses, it'd still be cheaper to have shared facilities when possible given the cost of high-end devices and mills.

I've started to build my supply alts individual workshops, funding them using the by-products of whatever they make.  Actually made over 10g off of bones, alone

Having done some rough math, the factory would be cheaper than 25 workshops, but the headquarters necessary to make full use of it makes this option more expensive. And T2's are actually insufficient for what I'm trying to do. So, now I'm in the market for three stoves with a minimum skill of 32, and three mills with concoction strength at least in the mid 30's. I'll likely need more in the future, in case anyone's looking for periodic contract work.

I believe we should have some room in the guild for you and a friend.  The group has dwindled in size, somewhat, but we've added other players from Therian to the guild.  Feel free to friend me (same name as here).  Also, our in-game channel is _Urist_.  I think most people probably have it added as a chat tab, so it'll highlight it for them if you ask a question or say something in there.

There was a conversion error in my math. Having fixed that, it looks like a factory is actually cheaper than five workshops even considering the cost of the domain, though I'm guessing at the market prices of the megamachinery. Just looking at the amounts of materials, a factory is cheaper due to the amount of materials required to make a watermill. Even a headquarters would cost about as much as two mills (in terms of materials). Argh, decisions.

I don't suppose someone could quote me the cost of a derrick and big hoist?
