The goal is 400, and I'm about ~170 now.  I've already got the chisels and the workshop to cut blocks, but I'm no mason, so I can't produce vaults.

Are you able to get Solone?  That may actually be easier than the 400 lanferite

I mainly do carpentry so not sure on stone as of yet, but for the Solone you would need 600 planks (so 600 logs/blades) to make the 20 frameworks. 600 logs takes around 12 days to gather with 4 woodcutters (9.5 with 5, 8 with 6, 7 with 7, and 6 with 8 ) and with 1 it will take like 47.5 days or so. So assuming you go full out on it, takes 1~2 weeks to gather all the needed logs (less if you fell yourself as well) and then hero time will vary depending on how much energy you get from sleeping. I think the Planks take like 69 hours 8 minutes and the frameworks themselves take 20 hours and 22 minutes, with like 30~35 hours of sleep, so it will take afew days to get them all made.
I think 20 Solone Frameworks (with 4 companions gathering) will take like 12 days to make (assuming you make the frameworks and planks as the companions gather, and any gathering you do will likely drop the timeframe as the gathering is the limiting factor here as hero time is like 120 hours or so).

Edit: I should note, gather time is an estimate as The Strangers in Whispering forest has solone at 1-2, 40%

An interesting discussion came up on global chat. Because of the derpy way the game handles item stats, can a crossbow get higher piercing than a composite longbow? Because a longbow has 5 higher base, but because it likes to pick and choose the best stats for item making, can having a metal part get higher than just wood allows?

For the Solone vs Lanferite discussion, Solone is 1-2 @ 40% *600 logs, while Lanferite is 1 @ 40% *400 lumps.  With luck, Solone is slightly quicker, in terms of gathering.  Not sure the refining timeframe for each.

Gram, as far as the invite goes, not sure who is still around regularly to invite you.  Might just wanna leave yourself in the chat, if possible, so you are more visible.

No idea on crossbows.  Haven't even messed with 'em, yet.

Doing some quick math, 1 block of lanferite averages 3.22 hours to make, 1 plank of solone averages 1.12 hours to make. So it certainly seems pretty massively skewed in Solone's favor.

Only if you hate beta testing.  It is in beta stage.  That mostly rears it's head in the form of occasional server lag, which had gotten better for several weeks until just a few days ago.  Hopefully the server upgrade they did last night fixed that.

All in all, not a bad game I think. I wish it told me you have to actually rest in an inn room to recover Energy though. I somehow figured it was gradual over time...
There's occasional server lag, but when queues can take minutes or hours to finish, losing not even a minute to lag sometimes, isn't too bad.

Kind of want to make more characters though, since it doesn't take long to keep a single character busy...

You can sleep anywhere outside of a "site."  Just travel to a map location and there will be a sleep option.  For free!  Though most of the inns aren't too bad.

As for alts...I have 9.  And I'm one of the smaller char armies in the bay12 group.  I like it beause if I get tired of 1 characters progress, I just queue up a bunch of gathering/crafting tasks and focus more actively on a different 1 for awhile.
