Highaerie is pretty awesome.  Once you get some of the upgrades built, you can mine all sorts of ore.

Depends on a few things:
1) Do you want to gather and craft or just craft.  If you want to use your concession to gather then you should choose an area that has resources that you want to access.  With the right structure you get access to resource with a location bonus based on the machine you used to build said structure (eg. if you made a quarry in Highaerie Hills you would gain access to Granite, lignite, blackcoal, and a number of gemstones.  If you put one in the Silver Mountains you would get access to sandstone and a small number of gems.)
2) What difficulty do you want to worry about.  The easier the location the cheaper the construction.  So if you built in Hawkoria Plains you would't have much in the way of resources but you could use anything to build with.

I'd suggest Higharie to almost everyone.  The 6 difficulty is beatable by NPC construction parts, for the most part.

By the by, I would appreciate if someone could hook me up with some Leather - any kind, even the crappy stuff.  I'm working Engineering and there's a surprisingly high need for the stuff!

Hm I don't think I picked a good trade for selling stuff. Kind of wish I could sell tamed animals. I might start making some potions though in case that interests anyone. Just need to skill up some before I can make anything of quality.

Fauna is mainly for combat.  If you're into Fauna, you should try getting some tamed creatures and going into dungeons, because you've basically got free combat companions!

Also, animal trading and breeding are supposed to come in soon(tm)

You can also sell tamed animals to the right NPCs.  Just wish I had a list of them.

Yeah, but the reward isn't really worth it. I have been hitting those dungeons though, good income. Only annoying bit is you can only complete the quest for each dungeon once a day. Still got a ways to go with combat skills to.

As a hunter there's a lot of money to be made selling bear meat and doing dungeons, I picked Fauna as well and I don't have any complaints.

I've been looking at machines but they seem really hard to make. Any engineers here able to make 20+ tanning tables, please whisper me ingame: Schaap
