Regarding guild - do you guys/gals think it might be time to start discussing on what specific items should guild focus to assure market dominance?
Should each guild offer most of the crafts related to it's trade, or should it focus on high-paying/much sought after items?
Probably combination of both, low level members offering cheap basic items en-mass, high level members offering specialized, high quality ones?
I can tell metal blades are quite the item metalworking guild could flood the market with, but I have no idea what a woodmakers' guild should focus on.

Nevermind, I asked in the chat. Apparently you cant leave children in the wilderness to mine for nuggets. :(
Oh right, apprentices... These are only useful to help you for task and later on as home decoration. They might eventually become more useful if they add a quest or something for them, so I would suggest you send him/her in your home if/when you have one rather than dismiss them.
Aaaaah, that makes sense and answers one of the questions I had.

And that's just beautiful.

What are the benefits of having a guild anyways?  If it's just gonna be a tax on me to be able to talk on the guild channel, then I really don't care much for it.

So a banned user from these forums wanted to buy a vest from me, I offer to sell an exceptional soft leather vest which npcs for almost 6 silver for 10 silver instead of the normal 6 silver I charge b12 members, they flip out saying I lost a customer because I asked for more yet only 1/10th what I've seen them move on the market for.

Sorry if this sounds mean, but its frustrating to see this level of stupidity.

Can anyone please explain the benefits of owning a home and considerations to pick a location?

I know you can park excess companions there and you can have workshops, but is there a limit on the type and number of workshops?

I don't know the specifics, BuriBuriZaemon, but I do know that the place you pick also influences what your companions can do when stationed there.  A laborer in a mountain region can be assigned to prospect for different ores and the like, based upon local resources; although he has to be left there, from what I understand.  But that does free you up to do other things at the same time.

So far been playing pretty independently myself, just sorta wandering around, making potions occasionally and looking for ways to make my character better skill wise, tested out archeology a bit but didn't get much out if it yet so just gonna stick to flora stuff for now.

Been doing a little dungeoneering on the side, it's neat! I enjoy how hit or miss the loot is, seems like a nice way to help out everyone, to an extent. I'll probably work on combat a bit on and off, I'll definitely be sticking with crafting mostly unless some dire need for fightin shows up.

I've also added an "offer" row to the spreadsheet. Potions are actually fairly potent early on, looking at them a little closer. I'd post a big list, but the effects will change as I get more skilled, and it'd get buried within the day anyway. So yeah! Message me in game if you're interested in getting a little extra, and we'll see if we can't work something out.

It boils down to two things, access to resources and better workshops.  For workshops when you build them you use a machine which is made by an engineer and is dedicated to one trade (masonry, forging, stonecutting, sewing, ect.).  These machines in even their basic low end form provide greater benefits than most public workplaces.  How fast do you think you would skill up now if you had a 40 strength location to craft at?  On the resources, you can build a special building on claims that allow access to resources that would normally be only available at sites (I think, don't quote me on this).

The third thing for higher up characters is getting 3rd tier companions (your laborers, artisans and farmers are all 1st tier) by building a inn of the right type in the right location in Lanfar, the area to the north across the river.

I don't know what the limit of things you can have on a claim, but I do know you can have an unlimited number of claims.
