I am amassing rather a lot of maple planks. If I can get those metal fasteners I can start dropping frameworks in the guild.

Anyone need a wooden shield? I can make some nice ones now, best is 15/20/15 with 27 obstruction and 31 protection.

I've been pestering people trying to get maple frames, I can provide plenty of fasteners...

They have to have at least 24 stabilization, but I have 300+ planks ready to turn into frames. If you mail the fasteners to me I'll just mail the frames back or leave them at the guild hall.

I finally made it to the Den, I'm gonna start making extremely good potions in a few days. Also, I can harvest
Olkznar Bundle now, for the Fashion House.

Just wanted to let you guys know I'm leaving my belongings in the guild bank (thanes of toady) since I've more or less lost interest in the game. So help yourself to my stuff and sorry for the mess. ;)

I'm with Jelle here. It doesn't feel like a game anymore. It feels like a job. I log in each morning, set up a bunch of things to happen, do it again each evening. I'm not playing. It's more like managing a business. The only thing that kept me coming back to it for so long was the feeling that if I didn't, I would lose something. I caught myself thinking "damn it, I have to do Therian Saga before I can go to bed," and realized that was not how a game should feel. I gave myself a few days off and haven't felt any desire to go back to it since. It's not like playing it is fun. There's nothing to do. Even a grindy game that makes you click the mouse over and over again has you *doing* something. I'm not even clicking the mouse here, except to select "do this for the next 8 hours." Even exploring dungeons isn't really fun, and there's no predictable way to improve your fighting skill or new things to discover. And it's not like you can just play once per week, when you feel like it. You'd never advance that way, and you'd be useless to everyone else.

This is basically a glorified Facebook-type game on a large scale. The art is pretty, the developers seem like nice people, but it doesn't hold my interest. If someone ever creates a game like this where you can actually *play* it instead of telling the computer to play for you for the next 8 hours, I'd be all for that, but this... It only took a few days away from it for me to lose any desire to ever play again, and that really says it all.

A question for those who have been playing a little longer: is there an endgame to speak of, or is it all grinding for skill ups, reaching new areas with higher skill requirements and repeating that process? If there's a player driven economy beyond I might stick around for a while, but just grinding for the sake of it bores me.
I inevitably got bored I'm afraid.  :(

I'm lost interest, not because of the grind, but because of the brick walls that come with not being the best tool maker, and trying to level anything else.
I don't mind queueing up tasks, or feeling like I need to get on there for a couple minutes before hitting the sack.
I do mind that there's very little I can do to skill up unless I have the absolute best tools and companions and workshop.
I do mind that even with that convoluted skill scheme, the tasks that can improve my skill are sill only a slim chance.

My days staying in Therian are probably numbering in the single digits. As with Jelle, I'll be dropping off everything in the guild storage when/if the time comes.

Wow, that's actually kinda insulting, n9103...  This is a very social game.  You're not meant to have the best stuff, you're meant to cooperate with others to get the best stuff.  We have the best toolmakers and engineers, if you'd just TALK.  You're in my guild, but you never say a word, you never get on Steam chat, and then you arrive to declare that you're quitting because you don't have things that other people can provide.

For real, we're on the Steam chat almost all the time talking about stuff, coordinating and cooperating.  If you need or want something, we can probably get it for you pretty quickly.  All you have to do is actually speak up about what you're lacking...

Girlinhat is right in that this is a social game, you do need to speak up and interact with others to a certain degree. No one trade skill is totally self reliant, and learning all of them to decent levels will take a ton of work, even if you use an army of alts. And I can echo Girl on that I've never seen you attempt to communicate with anyone in guild. The in-game chat leaves much to be desired but simply sending some mail in-game is a good way of making sure the person gets your message. And then there is the steam channel which can get you much faster responses, though I know some people can't/won't use it for their own reasons and thats fine, but the option is there too.

I've hit my own skill wall currently 53.8 effective skill and my hero skill is 59. I can't level without the aid of buff pots now, but Kelroth(Isgaroth) is helping me there. And in return I gave him a nice diamond jewel and a boatload of empty vials to help him with his various goals.

tl;dr version. The game is built around needing help from other trades. You got to network with people and help each other, the path of a lone wolf isn't very easy here.

I'm curious as to how your skill is so high, given that the best tool for most professions is around 45 skill.

Just coming back to this after a while-digging up lignite. It's suitable for trading for chisels and stuff.
