Jyggalag suddenly remembered he could move and moved to (7,15). He looked at the child. It was still a child, but definitely undead... Hesitant for a moment, finally he decided to try and put the child out of his misery with his Slim Lance.

Lucas took this very, exact moment to abandon his long-held silence, as he strode forward to 7,14, attacking poor child C with his Flux Tome

"Well, fight fire with fire, right? Though this isn't exactly fire."

"I'm far from an actual mage, but, we'll see how this goes. Can't be too hard to beat a few walking corpse."

"Milady, that is precisely the reason I place myself here. The clothing it wears is damp and thick; while the creature itself may be vulnerable to your flames, they may have trouble reaching it's abominable flesh."

Medens nodded to Jasmine before turning back and steadying himself. If the creature chose to strike at the magistress, he must be ready to prevent it's strikes, if possible. What made him shiver, though, had been Jasmine's reaction to his offer. Most women he encountered became more at ease when he placed their well-being above his own, not less! He hated seeing people distressed, but what could he do, for this woman, whose name he still did not know! The knight clenched his jaw, at a loss for a course of action, desperately wishing the creature would come back into view and give him something clear to focus on.

: "That's precisely what I mean, you dolt. How are you going to help me take that nasty shaman down if it knocks you off that horse of yours with a single blast? I'm going to need to weaken it and then someone will have to finish it off."

"...I've never tried."

Medens lifted the lance, seemingly thoughtful for a moment. He tried a rudimentary throwing motion, which nearly skewered his horse. He appeared intent on the lance for a moment before turning back to Jasmine.

"...no."

Jasmine closed her eyes and began massaging her temples at the inept display.
: "You do realize that shamans can blast you from out of easy stabbing range, right? If you can't throw that spear of yours then you're basically a sitting duck. Which is why I suggested letting me take the first shot."

Alima rolled her eyes.

"Right. New guy. Shut up. I get that you want to be all manly and protect the poor innocent women, but here's the news. Us? We don't want protecting. Those two especially don't need protecting. I'm a bit more open, but I'm also really good at dodging. So here's the thing. You fight with us like you would fight with a group of guys, or you don't fight with us. You let Jazz take the first shot if she wants it because she's right. Magic has range, you don't. It's as simple as that. If you want to argue about this, we can do that later. Not now, not in the middle of a fight. You're the new one to the group, you don't get to decide how we fight. Simple as that."

: "What she said! Seriously pal, that noble self-sacrifice act might work on buxom peasant girls with air between their ears, but it doesn't fly here. You do things right, we all go home and celebrate. You endanger us with any more gallant acts, I'll melt you myself. We clear?"

Medens turned to look at the bard when she started to speak. Then, as she finished, he stood stock still for a second, staring at her as if in surprise. And then, he laughed. Shaking his head, he managed to speak.

"I-I'm afraid, milady, that you have perhaps misunderstood me, then. This is how I fight, with any comrades. I would rather myself be wounded than an ally, regardless of sex. I cannot stand to see others in pain."

His expression became somber once more as he peered into the darkness, trying to see the approaching enemy, all too aware of the nearer foes.

"It has nothing to do with trying to protect womenthough I think I'm supposed to do that too and everything to do with true knights protecting their allies at any cost. I would do the same for the holy Father, or the...adventurous individuals with the blonde hair."

He did, however, seem somewhat anxious at Jasmine's threat, with a drop of sweat trickling down his (rather chiseled) features. Whether that was from the effort of combat or not wasn't clear, though.

"You'd do the same for us? Tell me, ser knight, if I get an arrow in the thigh, will you carry me away into the sunset and allow me a brief moment to swoon?"

"But seriously, if I do get shot down, do carry me away."

"ENOUGH." Shotrin brought the base of his staff against the ground, causing a loud thunk-sound. "We can bicker amongst ourselves about what is proper behavior for a knight-errant or how we choose to interact with the fairer sex once these aberrations are put to rest."

"Unless of course you'd prefer to be murdered by the undead. No? Excellent."
Shotrin took a breath, but his expression didn't soften afterward. "So long as we keep our wits about us and don't attempt anything too reckless and or gallant... I should be able to fix the bulk of anything that can be done to us. So there's no need to worry about the girls, ser. They're quite capable."

The knight stiffened, then sighed. His words, when he spoke, were almost caustic, laced with frustration and betrayal, as if the man was angry that the world had turned upon him.

"Fine. I will leave aside my beliefs in order to focus my efforts upon slaying these abominations more swiftly. Will that suit you, madames and sers?"

The first word was almost a hiss, and the rest were brimming with barely contained emotion.
