Iron is an abundant element that is directly made into steel. Without processing it is brittle and weak.
Carbon is an element found mainly inside asteroids and terrestrial planets. It is great for thermal shielding and can be used to create a variety of materials.
Hydrocarbons are a ready source of chemical fuel. They can be refined into energetic fuel for atmospheric craft, or be condensed into plastics for structural use.
Rare Minerals are, as their name implies, rare on Earth and thus incredibly valuable.
Rare Earth Minerals should not be confused with rare minerals. These are not so rare, and are key to building electronics.
Alloy Minerals are used to made durable alloys out of other metals.
Aluminium is a lightweight metal that is the material of choice for lightweight applications like aircraft and spaceships.
Titanium is similar to aluminium in that its strength/weight ratio is extremely high. However, it is extremely rare and requires processing to be useful.
Scrap consists of parts looted from nonfunctional electronics and machines. Each turn, your current scrap is converted into random resources.
Water is the blood of all spacefaring vessels and plays an important role in life as we know it. It is used as a coolant, propellant, solvent, and refrigerant and is absolutely vital to just about any operation.
---Processed---
Voxels are the basic building blocks for 3D printers onboard starships. They consist of polymers coated in a sealing agent, and can only be looted or purchased.
Steel is a high-strength building material with medium density. It is used in a variety of applications, ranging from airframes to armor plating. Made from: 3 Iron, 1 Carbon, 1 Alloy Minerals
Monocrystalline Iron is iron composed of a single crystal, free of defects. It is exceptionally strong, but difficult to manufacture in large quantities. Nonetheless, small shards are ideal for kinetic projectiles. Made from: 1 Iron
Titanium Alloy is titanium processed into a high-strength material capable of taking more stress than steel while being lighter to boot. This stuff puts aluminum to shame. Made from: 4 Titanium, 1 Aluminum, 1 Alloy Minerals
Polymers are plastics made from hydrocarbons. They can be used as-is for lightweight, low-strength applications, or be used in building carbon fiber for more critical uses. Made from: 3 Hydrocarbons, 1 Carbon
Carbon Fiber is an exceptional material, though brittle. It is ideal for armor and lightweight components, but requires complex machining processes to build and cannot be manufactured on the ship.
Fullerenes are forms of carbon such as graphene and carbon nanotubes, regarded widely for their great strength and useful thermal properties. They are used in heat-sensitive applications, armor, and tension members in construction.
Circuits are the core components of all electronics. They are needed especially for building nanites. Made from: 1 Polymers, 1 Rare Earth Minerals

[1+1 = ~1] You design a specialized body designed to be a mobile saboteur, combining utility tools with more powerful magnets and noise absorption. However, the soft pads on the feet create some distance from the magnets themselves, requiring significantly more magnets than was calculated just to get the same amount of force.
This body can:
- Sprint at 30mph under normal gravity conditions
- Creates 30dB of noise at 5m while sprinting along a hard floor
- Weighs 90kg
- Has small jump jets powered by solid fuel. Contains eight charges. The fuel can be freely replenished from any spacecraft's refueling system, as the amount required is minuscule compared to how much is in the tanks.
- Can run on metal walls, even at 1G of gravity in the perpendicular direction
- Has a plasma cutter/welding/soldering tool on one arm
- Can jump twice as high as a human in normal gravity conditions
- Has bulky feet, good for kicking and making landings
- Battery lasts 9 hr under continuous use, or 4 hr when using wallrunning capability

Constructor [1/3]
[4+2 = ~5] You make some modifications to the basic Cloud design, utilizing the magnetic field they use for power and control transmission to also function as a . Since it requires some heavy calculation and a bit of integration, you have to create a secondary transmitter that makes all of the calculations for the nanites. You almost get into bandwidth issues, as the electromagnets can only transmit so much data at once, but you manage to get all the features you want finished. After rounding out the code, you build your first transmitter and a test batch.
[5] Some rudimentary testing in the airlock indicates that the new Cloud works just as well as the old one, but instead of forming a Cloud-like structure, it tends to form tentacle-like appendages instead.

Nanofabrication [1/3]
[6] While your manufacturing system can't work with the carbon nanotubes and graphine due to the hardness of the material and difficulty in bonding them, you try an alternative method... by using nanites! You manipulate the ship's free cloud in order to deconstruct and rebind bundles of carbon into a new shape. You now have a perfect set of fins ready to be mounted.

Wasp is not sent down there yet. Next turn, if you wish to deploy the mining rig and go down to the surface of the planet, you have a choice. You can load your actual selves onto Wasp and have the ability to command the bodies directly from the ship, or you can stay and remove-control them from the ship. You can either leave the bodies and rig on the surface of the planet and bring Wasp back up to use it for salvage operations ((hooray multitasking!)), or you can leave it down there until you are finished.
